How You Will Contribute:

Blue Planet , the software division of Ciena, provides best-in-class intelligent automation software and niche professional services to help clients modernize their IT and network operations. Driven by policy and AI-based insights, Blue Planet delivers the closed-loop automation tools needed to align IT and networking processes\xe2\x80\x94critical to facilitating digital transformation and an adaptive network.

We are looking for a software engineer experienced in Scala. It is based on a next-generation software architecture that demonstrates open-source technologies, model-driven templates and container-based micro-services. Our customers are both internal and external customers of the Blue Planet platform.

• Collaborate in an Agile scrum teams working on the Features for the BluePlanet Inventory products
• Understand requirement from Product Owners/Architects in areas of OSI Layers and provide an optimal, cost-effective solutions
• Design and Implement use cases of BluePlanet Products using Scala/Akka Framework.
• Quick Prototyping using newer technologies and open-source platforms in Web and NMS domains
• Create Automated Test Suites for executing test automation of your features
• Troubleshooting product issues found in System Integration Testing and Customer deployments.

The Must Haves:

• Bachelors/master\xe2\x80\x99s in computer science or equivalent field
• 5+ years of development experience in languages such as Scala/Java
• Asynchronous programming patterns (e.g. Akka framework on Scala or Python frameworks like Twisted);
• Experience in PostgreSQL or Neo4j
• Interest and ability to quickly learn and ramp-up on new languages and technologies
• Ability to write understandable, reliable, and testable code with minimum supervision
• Effective written and verbal communication skills
