1. POSITION VACANT: Senior Project Officer, SteelZero, Climate Group, New Delhi 2. ORGANISATION BACKGROUND: Climate Group (CG) drives accelerated climate action. For more information about CG, please visit https://www.theclimategroup.org/ Project Background Climate Group is accelerating the push toward India\'s industrial decarbonization by building ambitious coalitions and networks for faster action. A key element in this push is the decarbonization of India\'s steel industry, with a huge potential for curtailing emissions. SteelZero is an initiative run by Climate Group in partnership with ResponsibleSteel. CG \'s mission is to mobilize transformative global demand for low-emission, near- and eventually net-zero steel. Driving this systemic change across the full steel supply chain, CG works with key decision-makers across the technology, policy, and investment landscape. 3. JOB DESCRIPTION/ RESPONSIBILITIES: The Senior Project Officer (SPO) shall be responsible for executing CG \'s project on building and showcasing demand for low or zero-carbon steel by corporates in India. The post holder shall work with businesses to foster higher ambition through SteelZero and drive action by addressing emission-intense technological challenges, implementing scalable business models, publicizing best practices, and informing policy. The SPO shall facilitate engagements with companies having business operations in India and help to expand CG \'s strategy on decarbonization of the Indian steel sector through corporate action. S/he shall also support the delivery and expansion of CG\'s evolving SteelZero initiative along with the steel-focused work, consolidate progress already underway in the current phase, and develop and deliver further opportunities. The SPO will report to the Project Manager, SteelZero , India, and will be working from CG\'s Delhi office. Key Job Responsibilities: (A) Project Management (1) Work with the industry team and facilitate delivery of the SteelZero project in India by engaging with companies and executing allied strategies that support in achieving the project outcomes; (2) Contribute to internal organizational knowledge through market research and communications pieces such as articles and blogs; (3) Liaise with internal stakeholders such as global functional teams including programs, communications, fundraising, and finance, as may be needed under the project with clear objectives, scope, outcomes, and deliverables; (4) Contribute to leveraging existing international partnerships, campaigns, and networks of Climate Group to achieve the policy objectives of the project; (5) Support with the preparation of monthly and quarterly operational plans with goals and strategies; (6) Conduct regular meetings between senior members of partner organizations; (7) Showcase key industry leadership at Climate Week NYC and other critical industry events such as COP, Clean Energy Ministerial, and others. (B) Communications and Events (1) Contribute to the delivery of project meetings, and workshops/ conferences; (2) Work with India and the global team to ensure that communications and events align and facilitate the aims of the project and the team\'s mission; (3) Ensure effective external communication of the programs and their impacts through articles, blogs, Twitter feeds, LinkedIn, etc. with inputs from India and global communications teams; (4) Represent the organization when required to external stakeholders in meetings, workshops, and conferences. (C) Other responsibilities (1) Contribute to monitoring, evaluation, and reporting of projects and programs; (2) Undertake other related tasks, including administration, as and when required; (3) Undertake required learning and development programs organized by the organization for individual growth and success of projects; (4) Working flexibly as and when required, viz. for events and major media moments, and as part of a team crossing international time zones. 4. QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND COMPETENCIES: Qualification: Applicants must have relevant professional qualifications in energy systems, environment or climate policy, development economics, sustainability, or public affairs, or equivalent experience. Experience: (1) Experience of working with government agencies, research organizations, civil society, NGOs, or industry associations/ chambers. to address climate change; (2) Prior experience of working with international colleagues across multiple time zones; (3) Understanding and appreciation of the role of NGOs and corporations in transforming policies and markets; (4) Knowledge of project management software like Salesforce/ Financial Force. Skills and Competencies: (1)Committed to the mission of the Climate Group and SteelZero; (2) Strong stakeholder management skills; (3) Ability to do research, synthesize information, and incubate new ideas; (4) Attention to detail and strong analytical skills; (5) Track record in project delivery, including managing partners and organizing events; (6) Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, fluent written and spoken English; (7) Proactive and able to work independently and unsupervised to deliver tasks and achieve project objectives; (8) Competent user of MS Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint). 5. COMPENSATION OFFERED: Gross compensation budgeted for the position is INR 13,02,700 - 14,33,000 per annum, based on experience. Please note that the offer made to the selected candidate shall be commensurate with qualifications, experience, and salary history.
