About Us WWF India, in partnership with our implementation partner Saahas Waste Management Pvt. Ltd. has initiated a project in the state of Goa targeted towards ensuring that plastic waste does not impact marine ecosystems. The project will work towards: Identifying and quantifying the primary sources of marine plastic debris in Goa Engaging with high-footprint sectors towards finding solutions for reducing plastic waste Improving plastic waste management (collection, segregation, and processing) systems Working along with the communities to disseminate knowledge on best practices and source segregation Working along with the local officials on policies and adherence to compliance WWF-India is looking for a dynamic and motivated individual with an interest in environmental conservation, to work on this project which will contribute to our existing work on promoting sustainability with Indian businesses with a focus on ensuring circular economy by managing the flow of plastics across the entire value chain and eliminating the leakage of plastics into the environment. Position: Senior Programme Officer Location: WWF-India Goa office Job Profile: Establishing and maintaining relationships with the project implementation partner for the deliverance of the project objectives . Managing the on-ground implementation of the project, including effective delivery and execution of the project as per timelines, reporting and project documentation, identification, leveraging opportunities and providing a regular status update on the progress. Coordinating and working closely with internal cross-functional team as well as external consultants, Government bodies, municipalities, businesses. Working with the Goa office marine team on mapping of upstream and downstream of waste value-chain to identify major hotspots for plastic pollution in the region and establishing baseline data for plastic pollution entering into the oceans. Engaging with the local community to conduct awareness and capacity-building workshops to promote source segregation and improve consumption patterns to promote circularity. Supporting the implementation partner to engage with the government bodies to get the required clearances for setting up the MRF and PRF facility in the identified location. Requirements Desired Qualifications and abilities: Minimum Masters-level qualifications in the environment, chemical/systems engineering, materials science, or related discipline Prior experience of at least 5 years working in the sustainability/corporate sector, specifically related to plastics across the value chain, circular economy, waste management, supply chain management, research, compliance management, or closely related field. Demonstrated ability to work with and influence key stakeholders, including businesses and the government, on the sustainability agenda Understanding of the plastics production, use, and recovery ecosystem globally and in India Demonstrated knowledge on the environmental impacts of plastics, technical understanding of the material flow in the domestic value chain, existing regulatory frameworks, and initiatives undertaken by corporate companies working in this space. Demonstrated ability to synthesise complex information, regulations, and policies and translate into impactful advice, research, and communications. Strong written and spoken communication skills in English. Additionally, candidates from Goa or those having prior experience working in the region, with good knowledge of the local language would be an advantage. Strong negotiation and advocacy skills
