Our client, a leading tube manufacturing company, is looking for a Senior Production Manager to lead production operations for tubes supplied to the automotive industry. The role requires strong technical expertise in tube manufacturing, process control, quality systems, and managing automotive customer requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Production Management
Lead complete production operations for ERW/precision tubes for automotive applications.
Plan, schedule, and execute daily/weekly production to meet delivery timelines.
Optimize machine utilization, manpower, and resources to improve productivity.
Ensure reduction of rejections, scrap, and downtime through root-cause analysis.
Process Improvement
Implement lean manufacturing, Kaizen, 5S, and TPM practices.
Drive continuous improvement in welding, sizing, straightening, cutting, annealing, and end-finishing processes.
Enhance line speed, accuracy, and process reliability.
Automotive Quality & Compliance
Ensure compliance with automotive quality standards: IATF 16949, APQP, PPAP, FMEA, MSA, SPC.
Work closely with the QA team to resolve customer complaints and process deviations.
Support the development of new tube sizes/products as per customer specifications.
Team Leadership
Lead and mentor production supervisors, operators, and technical staff.
Conduct skill development and performance reviews.
Promote a culture of discipline, safety, and accountability.
Coordination & Reporting
Liaise with maintenance, quality, purchase, and planning teams for seamless operations.
Monitor KPIs: OEE, yield %, rejection %, downtime, customer complaints, cost reduction.
Prepare daily/weekly production MIS and improvement reports.
Required Skills & Experience
6-12 years of experience in tube manufacturing (ERW/precision/seamless tubes).
Must have experience supplying to or working with the automotive sector.
Strong understanding of automotive documentation (APQP/PPAP).
Hands-on knowledge of welding processes, rolling, forming, heat treatment, testing, etc.
Excellent leadership, problem-solving, and production-planning skills.
B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering is mandatory.
