General Counsel:

General Counsel (GC) is a trusted advisor to all parts of FIL, providing high-value independent advisory and assurance expertise through our specialist teams. GC comprises of Legal, Risk, Compliance, Tax, and Public Policy & Strategic Relationship Management

General Counsel Shared Services:

The General Counsel Shared services function is a global centre of expertise currently being built out in Dalian and India. It will provide operational support and services to the General Counsel function. Four key verticals of GC shared services are: -Reporting and Systems- Central hub in GC for all reporting and systems related activities. Operations - This is bouquet of various service offering for GC like Training Admin, support in Europe compliance, information barriers, legal and co sec ops. Investment Compliance- Compliance team in India provides effective monitoring of FIL's funds to ensure compliance with funds' mandates and regulatory rules in verticals like trade monitoring, portfolio compliance, retail brokerage & communication surveillance. Group Conduct Intelligence and Operations team ensure employees are complying with the requirements set out by the various Code of Conduct and Ethics Policies. Surveillance, testing and monitoring of staff behaviour in relation to FIL's personal conflicts requirements are carried out Group wide.

Purpose of your role

The successful candidate will support Systems vertical of GC Shared Services. Individual will be responsible for managing efficient deliveries in the respective areas by supporting day to day activities. The team has the objective to ensure user management, system data management and out of box solutions for systems managed seamlessly by closly working with 1st/2nd and 3rd LOD. The role will entail working closely with Technology and Framework leads in taking forward various initiatives for system stability. Required to closely monitor the team and picking new processes and projects for new opportunities through continuous improvement. Team upskilling, and performance management, training and motivating the team members. One of the key objectives of the role is to identify manual activities and provide solutions for value-add activities. General Counsel also leverages a lot of technology led solutions across various functions including the firms ERM system BWise and person to point of contact for ensuring system stability.

Key Responsibilities

• Team management role for Functional administration oversight for user query management and system support
• Stakeholder management and communications: ensuring that relationships are developed and maintained, thus enabling productive, two-way communication with all key stakeholders.
• Technology partnering both at Service Delivery and Production support for ensuring system sanity and stability
• Ensuring resolution of system/data issues with team by actively participating in discussions and ensuring data changes in system as per policies and processes
• Work alignment with PO and Technology Production Support and Delivery team by providing functional support and system issue resolution
• Supporting and managing multiple projects spanning across GC business functions like RCSA support, on-boarding functional management support, data management and/or migration
• Governance and coordinated management of projects by effectively managing team capacity view
• Work with business, GC Champions to support robust and appropriate deliveries within stipulated time including the matrix management with hands on project management experience
• Provide support to a large number of system users within FIL, as L1 support for user query management particularly within Risk, Audit and Compliance space.
• Ensure the team understands functional aspect of application and support in data management, user query, operational activities along with maintaining SOPs and process documentation
• Responsible for keeping impacted parties updated and informed for any issues, risks along with ensuring its resolved
• Responsible for managing System Champions Working group and Steer Co/Design Authority discussions
• Manage Functional and system aspects queries within stipulated time by identifying and documenting key framework requirements or audit issues and thereby requiring system changes
• Work in agile methodology to manage UAT, user sign offs for successful BWise Sprint Delivery queries as needed
• Working closely with Technology teams and liaising with them for resolving system/data issues by actively participating in discussions

Experience and Qualifications Required

• 12-14 years of proven experience in working within Systems, Operations, Data Management in a Financial Services organisation.
• Experience of partnering with senior stakeholders would be a significant advantage
• Ability to influence, challenge and negotiate when operating in a matrix environment.
• High level of attention to detail yet also able to see the big picture.
• Pro-active self-starter, able to multi-task and prioritise under pressure.
• Highly proficient in use of Microsoft Office packages, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint
• Highly motivated, able to think logically, critically & quickly
• Strong problem-solving skills with a solution focused mindset.
• Educated to degree level or equivalent
