We are searching for a top-notch Software Development/Engineering Manager who will drive key deliveries from the idea phase all the way through requirements definition, analysis, technical specifications, development and product delivery. This is a highly visible role that requires both business knowledge for working with senior management and technical depth for removing development road blocks.
As an Engineering Manager in TPSP's Service Data team, you will provide coaching and leadership for a group of . You will be challenged to work in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment consisting of highly-matrixed, cross-geo teams who partner with global technology teams across Expedia. With your experience, technical skillset, and passion for coaching and motivating others, you and your team will create the components and experiences that enable TPSP's vision of an intelligent service platform for Expedia, driving significant business benefits. What you’ll do :

• Guide and coach a team to successfully deliver on lofty goals with speed and quality
• Promote development of maintainable and thoroughly tested code
• Ensure your team is following coding standards and engineering excellence practices
• Provide ongoing, real-time feedback to engineers on your team to promote their growth; Partner with program managers to collect feedback and manage team progress toward goals
• Communicate clearly to product managers, partners and engineers to remove ambiguity from larger projects; Provide high level engineering estimates
• Collaborate with architects and engineers in defining intelligent solutions that incorporate data insights as well as your technical perspective in furthering the product and business
• Cross organizational boundaries (brands, divisions) to collaborate with other technology teams to solve complex, integrated problems

Who you are:

• 10+ years software development experience in enterprise software
• Proven experience in leadership and team building
• The utmost passion for both technology and leadership
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field; or equivalent related professional experience
• Experience in working in Business Intelligence Projects from end to end
• Strong knowledge of Java or Python with expertise in one language
• Knowledge and Experience of building large scale applications in Java or Python
• Experience of working in AWS Cloud
• Expertise in agile software development methodologies and their adoption within teams
• Excellent communication and organizational skills - able to translate between technical and business group
• Ability to bring forward a vision
• Ability to lead multiple tasks and projects simultaneously, prioritize decisions and tasks effectively, and thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
• Understanding of trade-offs of architectural patterns and comfort in recommending approaches and associated technology choices
• Knowledge of data warehousing, real-time streaming of data & working with big data is a big plus
• Knowledge if building UI applications is a plus
