WHAT YOU\'LL DO


  • As part of BCG\xe2\x80\x99s global team of employment lawyers, you will continue to build the centre of employment expertise within, and be the first point of contact for, BCG\xe2\x80\x99s employment legal matters within India, based from our office in Gurgaon, India, covering the full range of employment issues including onboarding, offboarding, investigations, disputes, regulatory issues relating to employment, global and local HR processes/forms and approaches, mobility and immigration matters, and advisory support for various people related matters;
  • Support all people related matters arising from BCG India and the firm\xe2\x80\x99s new businesses within India, and as needed, assist on other employment matters throughout Asia Pacific;
  • Partner with other members of BCG\xe2\x80\x99s global employment centre of expertise (CoE) on global projects, with the opportunity to lead such projects for the CoE;
  • Coordinate closely with the HR function within India to ensure a consistent approach to policies and decision-making across the global organization;
  • Team successfully across BCG and integrate fully into BCG\xe2\x80\x99s Global Legal Team to resolve or support resolution of complex HR and employment legal issues (both internally and matters where it could interface with external parties);
  • Contribute to developing and maintaining Legal Team intellectual property, including template forms, and other materials;
  • Work with and manage external counsel; and,
  • Perform other duties as assigned or required.
In all cases, BCG\xe2\x80\x99s Senior Legal Counsel will be an exceptional lawyer, able to efficiently deliver high quality work, and will have substantial experience of advising on commercially sound, strategic, and outcome-based solutions to people issues.

  • Talent for absorbing new skill sets and areas of expertise quickly and comfortably and the flexibility to deal with a diverse international set of stakeholders and advisors;
  • The ability to quickly comprehend complex sets of international laws and regulations and interpret those laws within the context of BCG\xe2\x80\x99s global policies and values;
  • Perform successfully and produce results in a fast-paced, intellectually intense, client-oriented environment;
  • Be a pragmatic, high-energy professional, with personal and professional self-confidence with great judgement in ambiguous situations; and,
  • Have the interpersonal skills necessary to build relationships throughout a loosely structured, highly collaborative and consensus driven organization.

YOU BRING (EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS)


  • Legally qualified lawyer (India and other common-law jurisdictions considered), with deep strategic and operational employment law expertise in India, and experience advising across different jurisdictions outside of India preferred (including other common law jurisdictions);
  • 7+ years PQE of practicing labour and employment law (candidates outside of this range may be considered if they can demonstrate they meet the overall requirements of the role);
  • Prior in-house counsel experience preferred within a complex international organization, preferably professional services or similar industry;
  • Comfortable presenting to both large and small audiences;
  • Experienced at managing outside legal advisers and other providers of expert advice on employee matters;
  • Must be fully fluent in both English and Hindi;
  • Preference to those with experience servicing international stakeholders, or those with experience working from within and outside of India;
  • Gravitas to influence and convince senior/challenging stakeholders; and,
  • Have a sense of humour and is a good team player.

YOU\'LL WORK WITH


A variety of cohorts and functions across the company, including local and global HR stakeholders, members of the BCG Global Legal Team, Immigration/Mobility, Finance, and the Partnership. You will report into the Employment group with the Legal Team.
