You will join our Structures department As a Senior Structural Engineer in Offshore Structures, you will be reporting to our HOD (Structure) of the Chennai office. As Senior Engineer - Your primary role will be in offshore topside projects involved in the design and analysis of offshore steels structures (Topsides). Your other tasks will be distributed into 3 key areas to: Profitableperformancesthat the team reaches its goals in time. To succeed in this position, you need the following competences: Master of Engineering structural (preferred) - Ph. D: is an advantage. Bachelor of Engineering (optional) Minimum 8-10 years' experience in design of steel structures - preferably offshore (topside) structures. Experience shall dominantly be within analysis work. Proven strong analysis capabilities in Structural Analysis software like SACS or Sesam or other relevant offshore structure software. Ramboll uses predominantly SACS and ROSAP. Applicant must be able to migrate from other analysis software to ROSAP - training is given. Experience with design and analysis of stressed skin structures will be weighted heavily in the evaluation Knowledge and experience of transport fatigue is an advantage for this role Must possess strong analytical abilities and skills to understand structural behaviour of larger structures, and independently perform analysis of these accounting for all aspects for the loading that the structure is exposed to. Can assess on his/her own, the appropriate analysis type to be applied for a structural problem. I.e. the ability to choose the best solution strategy: linear/nonlinear FEM, hand calculations or engineering judgement etc. Must possess strong analytical and proactive skills to design and optimise structures independently and reach a 'sound' structural layout/design that encompass all design drivers equally or acc. to the project requirement such as: weight, fabrication 'friendliness', general optimisation, steel section availability etc. Experience in analysing existing structures, applying loads, performing code check to relevant codes such as ISO, DNV-GL, EC3 and API. Experience in assessing structural analysis output - hereunder assess apparently overstressed members, check/review of analysis assumptions and provide guidance for further analysis and/or re-enforcement. Preparation of structural layout and design of connections. Responsible for selecting the structural layout independently and plan for the most optimum structure in terms of layout, connections and installation aspects. Analysis of offshore steels structures (topsides) via Finite Element programs (frame structures and/or stressed skin) - typical In-place, Lifting, Transportation & load out analysis Ensure that all design documentation is carried out according to project requirements including Writing self-explanatory design/analysis reports/design documentation /design briefs/design basis (in English) of high quality in terms of language, content and readability. Maintain close interface to structural CAD design group and guiding CAD designers in preparing 2D drawings & 3D model of the selected solution. Being responsible for bringing design drawings up to final 'Issued for Construction'. Detail design of offshore steel structures and prepare joint & connection design, via hand/desk calculations, Mathcad etc for e.g. lift points, major equipment supports, Seafastening etc. Interdisciplinary coordination As senior engineer there will be task as coach/mentor for junior employees in the department in their analysis work. Check their calculations and reports and continuously improve their skills via professional discussions and support. Typically, 1-3 colleagues at the time. Coordinate with projects and planning departments on schedule related issues. Preform quality check of other documents and Review/approval of documents.
