Responsibilities & tasks

  • Preparing / Reviewing Specifications and design of safety and process control systems.
  • Preparing / Reviewing Specifications and design of Fire & gas detection system.
  • Design / Review and Detailed Engineering for Field Instrumentation & Control system (PLC, DCS, SCADA, ESD, F&G) and Loop diagrams.
  • Vendor document review and verification, classification, and validation of equipment for hazardous areas.
  • Carrying out / Reviewing Shutdown Analysis including effect count, preparation of analysis list, detailed report, and progressive brief reports for critical findings.
  • Exposure in working in Aveva Instrumentation, Aveva Engineering, 3D - Aveva E3D, PDS, PDMS or SP 3D
  • Man hour estimation for CTR preparation and review of tender documents.
  • Preparation / Review of control philosophies and specifications.
  • Preparation and evaluation of general project documentation.
  • Coordination and follow up of equipment packages.
  • Ensures proper utilization of resources.
  • Works within the provisions and guidelines of the project Quality Assurance systems.
  • Participate in design reviews and safety reviews as and when necessary.
  • Coordination with vendor / contractor, issue and follow up of CSS questionnaire.
  • Review / Preparation and evaluation of general project documentation in addition to engineering deliverables.
  • Handling multi discipline task-oriented projects.
  • Coordination and follow up of Instrumentation design and engineering interfaces with other disciplines.
  • Assigns and participates in production of engineering deliverables through interaction with a team of designers and draughtsmen.
  • Shall perform the delegated essential functions of Lead Engineer as and when required.
  • Project management, project execution & coordination between Chennai and North Sea.
  • Progress monitoring, communication, documents up/downloading.
  • Handling and guiding designers and draughtsman.
Qualifications

Qualifications & Experience

You possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and you are person who takes ownership and responsibility for his / her deliverables. You like to work independently with least support from others.

Apart from the above qualities, to succeed in this position, you need the following competences:
  • Bachelor / master\'s degree holder in Instrumentation & Control Engineering or Equivalent.
  • Should have 10 to 15 years of experience in engineering with substantial experience in Instrumentation / Control System / telecommunication discipline related detail design & engineering activity and should have involved in engineering interfaces with other disciplines pertaining to Oil & Gas, refineries, Petrochemical and Process plants and preferably in consulting organisation.
  • Hands-on experience in handling onshore & offshore Oil & Gas projects and offshore Substation projects.
  • Have good experience in
  • Well head platform
  • Offshore greenfield platforms
  • Field instruments, control systems, networking, telecom systems fire & gas detection and system, functional safety
  • FO architecture,
  • UPS System
  • Experience in handling projects for clients like Total/Shell.
  • Should have handled assigned projects independently.
  • Ability or proven experience in an offshoring centre or coordinated work with a distant offshoring centre.
  • Having knowledge of software tools like Aveva Instrumentation and Engineering modules, Smart Plant Instrumentation is an advantage.
  • Having exposure to working on 3D models (either hands-on or through designers)
  • Well familiar with International codes and standards, materials, specifications, calculations, and datasheets.
  • Experience of working for an offshoring centre or getting work done from an offshoring centre.
  • Excellent in English skills oral and written is very important and a requirement
  • Skilled user of Microsoft office -Excel, Word
