JOB PURPOSE:

Senior Engineer in the grid code arena, while meeting the requirements of the customer/compliance need. Also selected engineer shall support in evaluating generators, by initiating discussion with OEMs and review their products against our product needs and grid code's specific requirements.

JOB DUTIES:

The primary responsibility of this position would be reviewing the grid code requirements in the various countries where Solar Turbines operate and do business, provide inputs internally to develop the required product features and support sales in guiding our customers in their dialogue with the authorities.

In this process, the incumbent will be involved in Grid Code requirement analysis and Synthesis of engineering design specifications of the Power Generation products.

The candidate will join the global team of product engineers focused on achieving grid code compliance program roadmap objectives, defined according to strategic country or regional energy regulatory frameworks requirements and business driven priorities.

The team is accountable for Hydro-Mechanical Design, Electrical & Control System HW/SW,
and simulation model developments to ensure the compliance with grid codes requirements.

The candidate will actively collaborate with subject matter experts and technical leaders to elaborate and maintain compliance test procedures, interfacing with accredited laboratories, certification entities and main component suppliers.

In the framework of type certification process, the candidate will be accountable for the preparation of electrical characteristics measurement campaigns at production test cells or at customer premises, and related test report reviews.

Other accountabilities include are not limited to: technical trainings sessions with other departments, technical content for program stakeholder review meetings, grid connection regulations gap analysis reports, attend project meetings with customer or grid connection consultants, support front-end engineering departments for feasibility studies and quotations.

As additional responsibilities, the candidate will be also responsible for the design, technical specifications, interface definition of electrical low voltage panels and medium voltage generator. The candidate will cooperate as Generator System Lead with mechanical, controls and software engineers and electrical drafters, and will have contact with suppliers, workshop, customers service and project application engineers.

This role involves approximately 10% travel

BACKGROUND/EXPERIENCE:

Electrical Engineering Degree.
Formal education in Electrical Engineering or equivalent knowledge/skills obtained on the job;
At least 5 years' experience in the field of Electrical Engineering. Plant site experience and/or plant commissioning of benefit.
Proved experience in grid code compliance and electrical system engineering (generators, medium voltage distribution, low voltage distribution, cable sizing, UPS, DC, short circuit calculation and load flow studies);
Basic knowledge of Generator and Gas turbine control.
Experience in documentation required by authorities (CE mark, declaration of conformity, LV and EMC directives, etc.)
Fluent technical English - Italian, German and/or French of benefit.
Good communication skills and capability to work on a team.
Analytical skills and problem-solving capability.
