India and other growing markets represent a huge opportunity in PCs and Print for the company who can best understand and then build specific products to meet the unique needs. With 500 million people with access to the internet but not PCs and Printers, HP is looking to build a new division in India to address this market. HP will succeed by developing local talent and designing products and solutions that are 100% targeted to the needs of the underserved population. Then for added scale HP will position and sell these solutions in other markets around the world.

The need to deeply understand the market requirements, the India tech landscape and partner landscape as well as emerging new business models will be an essential part of providing the right solutions. An entrepreneurial mindset and spirit will form the basis of this new and exciting division at HP.



We are seeking a seasoned Senior Director of Architecture and Engineering with a deep understanding of both PC, Tablet and Print stacks and architectures. The successful candidate will work with our head of product management to design and build the PC and Print solutions that meet the specific needs of the India untapped markets. This will involve designing an architect of PC and Print solutions from the hardware up through the OS and Software stacks (including API\xe2\x80\x99s for subscription models and partner SW integrations). The development models for each solution will need to be defined and executed with direct and indirect teams.

Responsibilities

-Lead the architecture \xe2\x80\x93 from silicon through OS and apps for all solutions. Conduct the necessary research to evaluate which architectures, operating systems and development languages would best be suited. Ensure testing of those environments is robust for mass deployments.

-Be accountable for delivering all HP development programs meeting performance, schedule, quality and cost goals within the development budget.

-Lead and improve the product development process by managing internal and external resources using various development models.

-Strategically manage and optimize engineering budgets to achieve objectives and align with product management priorities.

-Develop & execute strategies to improve engineering capabilities and expertise continuously.

-Navigate through a complex organizational setting to build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders and influence decision making.

-Create an environment and culture that fosters innovation and encourages thinking out of the box.

-Develop, drive, and own the technology roadmap that supports business and product strategy.

-Manage headcount, deliverables, schedules, and costs for the organization, ensuring appropriate resource allocation.

-Develop the managed team to meet business dynamics with modern engineering services.

-Drive organizational change by championing best practices and continuous improvement.

-Engage with system managers, ID, Product Planning and Management, NPI, marketing, supply chain, technical leaders and executives to communicate program status, escalate issues, and guide and influence strategic decision-making.

-Manage senior relationships and escalated issues with outsourced partners and suppliers.

-Provide overall people-care management for direct reports, including hiring, setting and monitoring of annual performance plans, coaching, and career development.

Qualifications

-Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree in engineering (Electrical Engineering preferred) or related field. Master\xe2\x80\x99s or Advanced Degree a plus.

-Minimum 15 years of work experience in either PC, Mobile (Smart Phone and Tablet), communication or consumer electronics industries, including 10 years of people management experience.

-Demonstrated experience with in-house, JDM and ODM development models.

-Strong business acumen combined with solid engineering & manufacturing, product development, financial and commercial knowledge.

-Strong leadership skills, including coaching, team building, and conflict resolution.

-Strong operations executive familiar with best practices in the area of product development.

-Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

-Excellent oral and written communication skills.

-Deep understanding of the Indian market and customer needs, with a proven track record of developing successful products for this market.

-Familiarity with HP\'s range of products and services is an advantage.

-Entrepreneurial mindset is essential! The ability to think strategically and roll sleeves up and get things done in an ambiguous environment.
