Introduction:
Although this is predominately a developer role, candidate must be able to work with the business to define requirements, writing high quality documentation and work through the entire development lifecycle.
The main skills sought are Oracle/MySql. However, candidates need to be willing to develop using different technologies as a significant proportion of their work would be using other languages or development tools such as Unix shell scripts, Autosys, AWS, Hive, Spark and HDFS.
What will you be doing? As well as ongoing maintenance work, current and upcoming projects include BIW 2.0 – CCAR Onboarding. The candidate is expected to be involved in all these projects with the work being spread across the whole development team. The role holder will have a solid professional technical experience. He/She will be capable of working in a fragmented, complex and changing environment and to create strong relationships with the business, technology management (and peers), and vendor representatives. The candidate needs to have strong technical skills. He/she will have the ability to quickly take ownership of issues. He/she will possess sufficient business and technical knowledge to be able to take decisions, often in stressful situations. They must be adaptable and able to converse with both technical staff and business representatives clearly.
What we’re looking for:

  • Minimum of 8 years’ development and experience in MySQL/Oracle comprehending the existing SQL queries and writing medium to complex SQL queries.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in Unix and shell scripting.
  • Minimum of 1 years experience in investment banking or the financial sector.
  • Knowledge of performance tuning and maintenance issues.
  • Eager to learn new technologies in Big Data Space (Hive, Impala, Spark Sql, Scala etc).
  • Any cloud experience (AWS/Azure/Google/Oracle).

Skills that will help you in the role:
  • Performance Tuning of Oracle/MySQL/Hive SQL Queries/Spark SQL Statements.
  • Experience in working with large databases - multi terabytes (3+ Terabytes).
  • Partner with Global build team.
  • Any Cloud (AWS/Azure/Google/Oracle) Certification will be plus.
  • Thorough understanding of a structured development lifecycle, realizing the importance of different levels of testing.
  • Ability to write high quality technical documentation. This includes design specifications and test plans.
  • Delivery focused, with a strong quality driven ethic, always ensuring the best solution is provided on time.
  • Strong team player, willing to work on own initiative yet able to communicate well and integrate with a diverse team.
  • Confident, enthusiastic, always giving 100% to assigned tasks and being able to handle situations in which they have little or no previous experience.
  • Proactive, being able to effectively deal with change and identify, react and add value to issues that affect the team as a whole.
  • Good interpersonal skills, able to develop relationships with other IT teams and the business.
  • Thorough understanding of a software development lifecycle, realising the importance of different levels of testing.
  • Strong problem-solving skills as well as the ability to manage several tasks/projects concurrently and prioritize work effectively.
  • Comfort with fast-paced, dynamic working environment with shifting priorities.
  • Experience in Risk and Finance or Regulatory reporting.
  • Experience in leading the team and individual contributor to the project
