About the Role

The Data Quality Analyst will be responsible for data quality activities from within the Enterprise Data Governance (EDG) team and will report to the Director of Data Governance & Product Data. You will be responsible for supporting the creation of a Data Quality Management Framework; designing and implementing a Data Quality Issue Management Approach; and the day-to-day responsibility of Data Quality management.

Responsibilities

  • Enterprise Data Quality Framework & Issue Approach: Collaborate with stakeholders and the team leadership to provide input into the Data Quality Management Approach & Framework. Define the Data Quality Issue Management Approach, providing a practical step-by-step implementation plan. Take active responsibility for Data Quality activities in the EDG roadmap
  • Implementing Data Quality Issue Management: Collaborate with Enterprise Data Catalog (EDC) Product Manager to implement active Issue Management capabilities within the EDC. Communicate the approach, structure, procedures, and purpose of this capability to all Elsevier stakeholders
  • Day-to-day Data Quality Maintenance: Analyse current & ongoing DQ issues, identify priorities & ensure appropriate level of detail and content in EDC. Perform deep data analysis and discover root causes. Own and create business data quality rules and technical data quality rules within the EDC. Profile data, assess data lineage, execute data quality work processes, consult & recommend solutions for root causes, working with Data Stewards across the Elsevier landscape
  • Communication, Education & Support: Create training material & education opportunities for stakeholders to embed DQ knowledge and management, especially providing support to the Data Stewards through coaching & mentorship on Data Quality. Playing a contributing role in the Data stewards governance meetings. Working with data stewards across the organisation to share best practice and align processes. Assist in driving the adoption of a data focused culture by providing well-structured communication and evidence-based storytelling opportunities with your stakeholders to increase the visibility of EDG and Data Quality
  • Data Quality Monitoring, Metrics & Audits: Collaborate with stakeholders and our EDA teams to identify and define DQ metrics. Monitor and track ongoing data quality levels and other metrics that assess the adherence of data and people to data governance & quality policies. Conduct data quality audits at regular cycles to establish improvements and identify ongoing and unresolved issues
Requirements
  • A passion for Data & Analytics with knowledge of Data Quality, Data Governance, & Metadata
  • Excellent skills at gathering, understanding, and analysing Data Quality issues, identifying root causes & providing improvements and corrections
  • Have a deep working knowledge of data management and data analysis tools, including Excel, SQL & data visualization tools such as Tableau
  • Able to both actively listen to and effectively question stakeholders on their identified data quality issues to elicit the full spectrum of the issue at hand
  • Able to collaborate with groups of people from diverse backgrounds, skill levels and located across the global business
  • Strong communication skills, written and verbal, including the ability to work effectively at other people\xe2\x80\x99s level of confidence.
  • Broad technical understanding across various methodologies, platforms, tools, and languages. Previous experience of working in an agile environment and collaboration with development teams
