About this role: Wells Fargo is seeking a Senior Control Management Specialist... In this role, you will: Participate in identifying, assessing, managing, and mitigating current and emerging risk exposures within Control Management functional area Provide risk management consulting to support the business in designing and implementing risk mitigation strategies, business processes, and business controls Monitor moderately complex business specific programs and provide risk management consulting to support the business in designing and implementing risk mitigation strategies Monitor, measure, evaluate, and report on the impact of decisions and controls to the relevant business group or functional area Provide guidance to business groups on the development, implementation, and monitoring of business specific programs to identify, assess, and mitigate risk Collaborate with relevant business group to identify current and emerging risks associated with business activities and operations Key responsibilities include: Risk Identification and Assessment Know the business process and understand the operational risk within the process (regulatory requirements, legal obligations, User Testing (UT), models, applications) to include existing controls/issues/application plans and regulatory feedback. Partner with the COO Operations team on identification of risks resulting from existing, new, or changing business activities and processes. Responsible for assessing risks in activities and processes against common enterprise taxonomies. Perform ongoing monitoring of the ops risk and control environment. Responsible for assessing both inherent and residual risk of operational controls based on control effectiveness. Responsible for documenting controls in the system of record (SHRP). Perform risk aggregation and reporting on key risk items on a periodic basis, present to key stakeholders and committees. Responsible for transparency to the enterprise with respect to impacts, changes, concerns with business activities and/or controls. Control and Issue Management Perform end to end issues/action plan administration leveraging system of record (SHRP). Monitor the execution of the remediation plans and risk acceptances including Red Amber Green (RAG) rating progress against established timelines. Understand full inventory of risk acceptances. Identify root cause, themes and trends to ensure issues get addressed across the enterprise. Document and communicate lessons learned across the enterprise. Develop and track issues/action plans through completion validate execution and sustainability. Monitor issues portfolio to include ageing, extensions, identification source, closure, severity, and validation effectiveness outcomes. Partner with the business to develop compensating controls while longer term solutions are developed and implemented. Validate that solutions address root cause, are comprehensive in nature, and sustainably implemented. Control Design and Evaluation Partner with the business process owner in the control design to effectively mitigate risks including design of effective means of measurement. Provide risk and control expertise in process design. Review procedures for control related language. Support the process owner during implementation activities. Validate the control implementation outcomes with a focus on sustainability and effective monitoring. Perform evidence based control evaluation consistent with defined risk methodology to confirm effectiveness of control design and execution. Responsible for reporting control evaluation results with business leadership, process owners, and independent risk management. Provide documentation of control evaluations performed to Independent Risk Management and Internal Audit when requested. Control Reporting and Governance Manage business control committees and governance forums ensuring appropriate content, metrics and minutes/follow-ups. Manage escalations. Analyze content highlighting themes/trends/emerging issues. Develop meaningful metrics with business leadership that clearly define operating thresholds, drive transparency of performance and accountability and ownership for outcomes. Escalate issues based on reporting. Partner with business owners to develop content for operational risk required reporting. Control Programs Influence a strong risk management culture within the LOB/Function through proactive partnership, bias for action, and deep understanding of the business process and outcomes. Serve as a trusted partner, jointly accountable with business leadership, for the development and maintenance of a strong control environment through line of business. Serve as key 1st line of defense (LOD) voice in the policy development life cycle and risk management framework activities owned by the 2nd LOD. Informed by knowledge of the business, functions and regions, partner with accountable business owners to develop streamlined and consistent processes and procedures to identify and mitigate risk or implement key risk activities into the normal business operating framework.
