JOB TITLE: Senior Attorney (Intellectual Property)

REPORTS TO: Vice President \xe2\x80\x93 Intellectual Property (Houston \xe2\x80\x93 US)

LOCATION: Chennai (India)

POSITION SUMMARY:

We are looking for a Senior IP Attorney to join our IP Team in Chennai, India. In this role, the Senior IP Attorney will legal guidance on IP Studies such as Freedom to Operate, Invalidity Studies and Landscape Studies. Senior IP Attorney also drafts patent applications, files and prosecutes patent and trademark applications in India, drafts responses to correspondences issued by United States Patent & Trademark office (PTO or USPTO), India Patent office, patent offices worldwide submitted in PTO during the patent & trademarks life cycle.

This is an exciting opportunity to work in the IP field where-in the Senior IP Attorney will be learning about KBR\xe2\x80\x99s global business and helping to support IP legal matters across the globe.

POSITION DISCRIPTION:

• IP Studies: Research and provide legal guidance regarding competitor IP. Evaluate potential infringement and invalidity analysis.
• Prepare patent & trademarks applications for filing.
• Assist with managing global IP portfolio.
• Effective communication with Attorneys, Paralegals, Law firms, foreign agents/counsels, inventors and other stake holders.
• Understand the business impact of the IP Legal reviews.
• Abreast of changes in PTO guidelines and procedures and extend support to team with process related inputs.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

• The candidate shall be a first-class graduate in technical degree, preferably engineering.
• Licensed as an Indian Patent Attorney
• 10+ years\' experience in industry and/or a law firm as an IP Attorney.
• Willing to travel domestically or internationally.

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:

• Industry or law firm IP law experience
• Preparing IP Study reports.
• Basic MS office: Proficiency in Microsoft office suite programs, including Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.
• Strong analytical skills to comprehensively evaluate the data
• Strong written & verbal communication skills

KEY RELATIONSHIPS:

• Supports relationships with IP Legal team, Legal Transaction Teams, Outside Counsel and Business Unit
• Managerial teams in India, US and across the globe.
