Job Description


Security Manager Responsibilities Job Purpose To direct and control the security and safety systems at the hotel, in order to maximize safety of guests and employees and minimize loss from theft, arson or otherwise damage to company assets and personal injury to guests and employees. Managerial - Plan and Budget the costs for the security department. - Create a work environment that is high in employee morale and provides constant learning & development and use the feedback from ESS to draw an action plan. - Develop systems and procedures that achieve higher cost efficiency and guest satisfaction. - Recruitment and Performance Appraisal/ Management of the staff in the department. - Develop & Implement the annual plan using the TBEM framework, linking the department\'s objectives to the unit\'s overall strategy. Operational - Develops and implements techniques and systems to prevent or minimize waste, theft or pilferage within the hotel. - Direct all investigations regarding theft or damage of property and personal injury occurring within the hotel. - Maintain good liaison with civil law enforcement agencies, Fire department and other government authorities. - Co-ordinate with external agencies for all special security requirements. - Ensure compliance with policies, systems and procedures relating to security and emergency situations (bomb threats, evacuation etc.) - Review the efficiency of all surveillance and fire systems in the unit and recommend improvements. - Ensure that all records and documents are maintained as per the standard norms of the unit. - Establish an ongoing process for fire prevention and fire security training in the hotel. - Ensure that all the security operations are in accordance with the management policy and that courteous service is accorded to all guests. - Keep the management informed at all times on matters pertaining to security. - Ensure that the daily activity report reflects a true account of all security activities. - Develop departmental trainers in association with the training department & oversee all the training activities within the department. - Ensure that all hotel employees abide by the established house rules and regulations. - Stay informed of the latest amendments in civil/criminal laws, technological advances in surveillance and safety equipment. - Identify key communities, plan various initiatives and co-ordinate the support activities Requirements Knowledge/Skills - Thorough knowledge of modern surveillance & vigilance techniques, equipments and systems - Working knowledge of all hotel operational areas - Knowledge of fire safety measures, fire fighting equipment and alarm systems - Basic knowledge of civil/criminal laws & investigation procedures - Trained in armed and unarmed combat/martial art - Working knowledge of MS Office Education - Bachelors Degree/ex forces (mostly preferred) Experience - A minimum of 8-10 years in managing security operations in a hotel. - Experience in any of the defence services/Police department/NCC etc.
