Job Description

A security guard's job, or "jd," involves protecting people and property by patrolling assigned areas, monitoring surveillance equipment, and controlling access to prevent theft, violence, or other infractions. Their duties include responding to alarms and emergencies, investigating suspicious activity, and maintaining detailed logs and reports of incidents and daily activities. They may also provide assistance to visitors and staff and coordinate with law enforcement or other emergency services. Key responsibilities

Patrol and monitor:

Regularly patrol assigned areas, check security cameras, and inspect buildings, equipment, and access points to detect and deter suspicious activity.

Control access:

Monitor and authorize the entrance of people and vehicles, check identification, and manage visitor logs to ensure only authorized individuals enter secure areas.

Respond to incidents:

Investigate disturbances, respond to alarms, and take appropriate action to handle emergencies, such as theft, trespassing, or medical incidents.

Report and document:

Keep a detailed log of daily activities, report any unusual occurrences, and prepare incident reports to document security breaches or other important events.

Provide assistance:

Act as a first point of contact for visitors, answer inquiries, and provide directions or assistance to people in need.

Enforce rules:

Ensure people follow rules and regulations, remove trespassers or wrongdoers, and, if necessary, apprehend individuals according to legal protocols.

Handle emergencies:

Respond to alarms and incidents by coordinating with law enforcement, fire departments, or medical personnel and providing first aid when necessary
