General Information -

The Hitachi Energy Indian Operations Center (INOPC) is a competence center with around 1500 skilled engineers who focus on tendering, engineering, planning, procurement, functional system testing, installation supervision and commissioning. However, over the last decade, it has evolved to become the largest engineering hub. The India Operations Centre is a key aspect of the Power Grids business Power Up transformation program. The INOPC team at Chennai supports Hitachi Energy\'s units in more than 40 countries across a wide portfolio of all the four business units in Power Grid business. To date, the team has executed engineering and commissioning for projects in more than 80 countries.

Mission Statement -

Project Engineering focuses on designing, communicating, and implementing an operational plan for completing an engineering-based project including Preparing designs, project controls and specifications, schedules, cost estimates, production, transportation, installation, testing and/or commissioning of new infrastructure, facilities, equipment, etc. Monitoring progress and performance against the project plan; taking action to resolve operational problems and minimize delays. Identifying, developing, and gathering the resources necessary to complete the project. May include preparing engineering standards, designs and work specifications; developing project schedules, budgets and forecasts; and selecting materials, equipment, project staff, and external contractors A Senior Professional (P3) applies advanced knowledge of job area typically obtained through advanced education and work experience. Responsibilities may include Managing projects / processes, working independently with limited supervision. Coaching and reviewing the work of lower-level professionals. Problems faced are difficult and sometimes complex.

Responsibilities -

Project execution:

You will be a part of the GIS LCC Secondary team and support the execution of LCC engineering. Your work involves mainly creating electrical circuit diagrams and supporting documents. We use the E3 tool for generating the schematics. You will be an individual contributor who would deliver the tasks as per the given inputs and when required need to work in coordination with other colleagues and should exhibit good collaborative skills to complete the task. In the absence of your Lead or in some cases, you will be required to interact with our counterparts to get/clarify queries. You may also interact with other departments like Primary, Project Management, and Production.

Activities Involve:

  • Preparation of LCC schematics for High Voltage Gas Insulated Switchgear (66 kV and above)
  • Preparation of GIS CB / Disconnector / Earthing switch / Fast Acting Earthing switches / CT & VT schematics
  • Preparation of JB\'s for CT, VT, and Density monitors
  • AC / DC Load calculation
  • Preparation of Interlocking table and schematics for various Busbar configurations
  • Addressing the technical queries raised by the customer during the execution of a project, if required.
  • Interaction with various cross-function teams like Primary, Project Management, and Production, when required.
  • Self-reviewing the documents before submitting them to the Lead Engineer
  • Generating Preliminary BOM by understanding the importance and consequences of releasing it
  • Preparation of Mimic boards in line with SLD and Layout drawings
  • Understanding and preparation of Communication Architecture diagrams
  • Preparation of protection schematics (Trafo, Line, Busbar) when we\'ve integrated protection in LCC
  • Selection of Bay Control Unit and other protection IEDs (Basic level)
  • Preparation of complete Digital LCC drawings as part of Digital Substation (with NCITs, MU\'s, SAM600 modules, etc...)
  • Preparation of Gas Density monitoring panels using MSM (Modular Switchgear Monitoring)
  • Cable sizing calculation
  • Adhering to applicable codes, practices, QA/QC policies, performance standards, and specifications
Requirements -
  • The candidate should have 12-16 years of relevant experience in Panel Engineering (P& C and/or LCC).
  • E3 is preferable but not mandatory. However, know-how on tools like EBase, EPlan, Elecdes or equivalent is essential.
  • He/She ought to perform as Project Engineering Manager (Technical & Leadership Skills required).
  • Hence, should know the value chain in project engineering, have had project life cycle participation, process workflow, risks & opportunities management, scope creep & variation orders, design freeze concept, planning & prioritizing, network management, budget management, very good communication etc
