Leading Transportation Company dedicated to delivering reliable and efficient services while maintaining the highest safety standards. We are seeking a committed and knowledgeable Safety Officer to ensure the safety and compliance of all transportation activities.
Key Responsibilities:
Safety Management:
Develop, implement, and monitor safety policies, procedures, and protocols across all transportation operations.
Conduct regular safety inspections and audits of vehicles, equipment, and facilities to identify and mitigate potential hazards.
Ensure that all transport activities comply with local, state, and federal safety regulations.
Training and Awareness:
Organize and deliver safety-training sessions for drivers, mechanics, and other transport staff.
Promote a culture of safety within the organization by regularly communicating best practices and safety updates.
Keep staff informed of any changes in safety regulations and procedures.
Incident Investigation and Reporting:
Lead investigations into accidents, incidents, and near misses to determine root causes and recommend corrective actions.
Maintain detailed records of all incidents and prepare reports for management and regulatory authorities as required.
Coordinate with insurance companies, law enforcement, and regulatory bodies during incident investigations.
Compliance and Documentation:
Ensure that all safety documentation, including licenses, certifications, and inspection records, is current and compliant with regulations.
Prepare and submit required safety reports to management and regulatory bodies in a timely manner.
Monitor compliance with hours of service regulations, weight limits, and hazardous materials handling.
Emergency Preparedness:
Develop and implement emergency response plans for transportation-related incidents.
Coordinate emergency drills and training exercises to ensure preparedness among staff.
Act as the primary contact for emergencies, providing leadership and direction during incidents.
Risk Assessment and Mitigation:
Conduct regular risk assessments of transport operations to identify potential safety issues.
Develop and implement strategies to reduce risks and prevent accidents.
Monitor and analyze safety performance data to identify trends and areas for improvement.
Fleet Safety Oversight:
Oversee the safety and maintenance of the company's fleet, ensuring that all vehicles are roadworthy and meet safety standards.
Coordinate with the fleet management team to ensure regular vehicle inspections and maintenance are carried out.
Qualifications and Experience:
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field.
Experience:
3-5 years of experience as a Safety Officer, preferably in the transport or logistics industry.
Demonstrated experience in implementing and managing safety programs and procedures.
Skills:
In-depth knowledge of transportation safety regulations and industry best practices.
Strong communication and training skills, with the ability to engage and motivate staff.
Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities.
Proficiency in using safety management software and MS Office Suite.
High attention to detail and a proactive approach to risk management.
