Job Description




Retail Client Servicing:

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with a panel of retailers, serving as the main point of contact.
  • Provide regular and informative data to retailer clients- Understand each retailer\'s business objectives, challenges, and opportunities, and develop strategies to support their growth.
  • Prepare comprehensive data-oriented insights for retail clients and business proposals for new retailers.
  • Identify opportunities to expand the panel of retailers and actively pursue new opportunities to increase market coverage.
  • Attend and participate in retail servicing meetings with retail clients, to discuss performance, and address concerns.
  • Conduct training sessions for retail clients on the effective use of BookScan software modules.
Customized Research Projects:

Actively participate in ongoing as well as new research projects. Assist in drafting comprehensive proposals, project management, report preparation, etc

Accountabilities:

Retail Client Servicing:
  • Maintain a working relationship with all key client contacts; ensure client personnel changes are fed back and any new working solutions are put in place.
  • To service retail clients to agreed levels, maintaining a high level of satisfaction in both data quality/accuracy and timely collection of retail sales data.
  • To show a knowledgeable product understanding and display a professional and unbiased attitude in dealing with all client/client prospects.
  • To ensure quality control standards are met in all servicing output.
  • Develop and continually enhance proficiency in various software packages to optimize data analysis efficiency.
  • To ensure clients have the software skills required to access and analyze BookScan data. Perform routine software installations and training in Nielsen BookScan software modules.
  • To work closely with allocated clients, developing their understanding and usage of the data, and sharing knowledge with relevant colleagues.
  • Attend and participate in publishing conferences, book trade fairs, etc.
Customized Research Projects:
  • Assist in drafting proposals that outline research objectives, methodologies, timelines, and deliverables.
  • Communicate project requirements with the field/ops team clearly.
  • Ownership of project management responsibilities including project timelines, progress, etc.
Relationship Management:
  • Client(s): Direct contact with retail clients.
  • Internal: Works closely with all colleagues in the UK BookScan team, the Research and Analytics team.
  • External: Build and maintain strong relationships with a panel of retailers, serving as the main point of contact.
Role Expectations & Scope:

Reporting to the Manager, BookScan, India, you will be part of the dedicated Book Data team based in India and will work closely with the UK-based Global operations, Reference data, Testing, and Integration team. This role requires the successful individual to show competence across a range of skills.

Knowledge & Skills:
  • Highly proficient general PC skills.
  • Strong team player with excellent communication skills, written and verbal.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail is required and a good understanding of Excel is essential. Experience of using Power BI would also be beneficial, but not essential.
  • In-depth understanding of the publishing industry and book trade is desirable.
  • Solid proficiency in data analysis and testing.
  • Very good interpersonal skills
  • Expertise in servicing customers.
  • Good knowledge of the characteristics of the relevant regional markets.
  • Awareness of the client\'s needs.
  • Good organizational skills.
