Job Description

A restaurant cashier is responsible for processing customer payments, handling cash and credit card transactions, and operating the cash register or point-of-sale (POS) system. Key duties include accurately handling money, issuing receipts, resolving customer issues, greeting customers, and maintaining a clean and organized workspace. They must possess strong customer service, communication, and basic math skills. Core responsibilities

Process payments:

Accurately take payments from customers using cash, credit cards, or other payment methods, and issue receipts.

Operate POS system:

Use the point-of-sale system to input orders, calculate bills, and process transactions.

Manage cash:

Handle cash registers, make change, and balance the cash drawer at the end of each shift.

Customer service:

Greet customers, answer questions about the menu, take orders, and handle complaints or issues in a friendly manner.

Maintain workspace:

Keep the cashier station and work area clean, organized, and well-stocked.
Required skills and qualifications

Customer service:

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a friendly and helpful attitude.

Math and attention to detail:

Basic mathematical skills to handle transactions accurately.

Experience:

Previous experience with cash handling and POS systems is often preferred.
