Job Title: Restaurant Cashier Reports To: General Manager Job Summary: The restaurant cashier is responsible for accurately processing payments made by customers and maintaining a clean and organized work area. The ideal candidate must be friendly, hospitable, good at multitasking and have excellent customer service skills. Key Responsibilities:
Greet customers upon arrival, answer questions and provide information about the restaurant menu
Ring up purchases accurately and handle cash, checks and credit card payments
Calculate and return change to customers in a timely manner
Resolve customer complaints or issues as necessary
Count money in cash drawers at the beginning and end of shift to ensure that amounts are correct and there is sufficient change
Keep the cash register area clean and organized
Assist with other tasks, such as welcoming guests, taking orders or serving food when necessary
Follow all restaurant policies and procedures
Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent
Strong customer service skills
Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Basic math skills for accurate counting of money
Strong attention to detail
Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends and holidays
Familiarity with point-of-sale systems is an added advantage
