The Restaurant Captain is responsible for overseeing the dining area, managing waitstaff, and ensuring that guests receive high-quality service. They act as the bridge between the front-of-house team and management, upholding standards of service and guest satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities:
Greet and welcome guests in a courteous and professional manner.
Supervise and coordinate the activities of waitstaff and support staff during service.
Ensure timely and high-quality service to all guests.
Assist in taking and serving orders, especially during peak hours.
Maintain cleanliness and ambiance of the dining area.
Handle guest complaints promptly and professionally.
Conduct pre-shift briefings and assign daily duties to team members.
Ensure adherence to restaurant policies, hygiene, and safety standards.
Monitor inventory of food, beverages, and supplies in the dining area.
Train and mentor junior staff to maintain service quality.
Prepare shift reports and communicate with kitchen and management teams.
Ensure billing and payment processes are accurate and smooth.
Requirements:
Proven experience as a Restaurant Captain, Senior Waiter, or similar role.
Strong leadership and team management skills.
Excellent communication and customer service abilities.
Knowledge of food and beverage operations and safety regulations.
Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment.
Flexible to work in shifts, including weekends and holidays.
High school diploma or equivalent; hospitality certification preferred.
