Job Description

The Restaurant Captain is responsible for supervising the service team, ensuring smooth restaurant operations, delivering high-quality guest service, and maintaining service standards. The role acts as a link between guests, service staff, and management to ensure guest satisfaction and efficient workflow.

Key Responsibilities



Guest Service & Satisfaction



Welcome and seat guests, ensuring they are comfortable. Take food & beverage orders accurately and ensure timely service. Handle guest complaints and resolve issues promptly. Ensure personalized service to regular and VIP guests.

Team Supervision



Supervise waiters, stewards, and service staff during operations. Assign tables, tasks, and sections to team members. Train and guide staff on service standards, upselling, and guest handling.

Operations & Standards



Ensure tables are properly set up and maintained as per hotel standards. Coordinate with kitchen and bar staff for smooth food & beverage service. Monitor cleanliness, hygiene, and safety in the restaurant. Check bills before presentation and ensure accurate billing.

Sales & Upselling



Suggest menu items and promotions to guests. Encourage upselling of food, beverages, and special offers. Assist in achieving restaurant sales targets.

Reporting & Coordination



Prepare shift reports and communicate operational issues to the Restaurant Manager. Ensure compliance with hotel SOPs, licensing, and statutory requirements. Coordinate with other departments (kitchen, housekeeping, accounts) for smooth operations.

Qualifications & Skills



Diploma/Degree in Hotel Management or equivalent. 2-4 years of experience in F&B service, with at least 1 year in a supervisory role. Good knowledge of food, beverages, wines, and service techniques. Strong leadership, communication, and guest-handling skills. Ability to train, motivate, and manage a team. Presentable, courteous, and customer-service oriented.
