The Resident Medical Officer (RMO) plays a critical role in providing round-the-clock medical care to in-patients, especially in maternity, gynecology, pediatrics, and neonatal care units. The RMO ensures patient safety, timely clinical intervention, and supports consultants and nursing teams in delivering quality healthcare services.
Key Responsibilities:Clinical Duties:
Monitor and manage admitted patients in maternity, gynecology, NICU, PICU, and pediatric wards.
Conduct regular patient rounds and update clinical notes.
Respond promptly to emergencies and initiate appropriate care.
Assist consultants in medical procedures and deliveries (normal and C-section).
Ensure proper documentation of diagnosis, treatment, and care plans.
Coordinate with nursing staff to ensure medication, treatment, and vital monitoring is done accurately.
Patient Care and Communication:
Communicate with patient families regarding condition updates, progress, and care instructions.
Address patient complaints or escalate as needed.
Counsel patients on postnatal care, breastfeeding, vaccinations, and follow-up care.
Administrative and Operational:
Ensure timely completion of admission and discharge documentation.
Maintain accurate and updated patient records and case files.
Report and document all critical incidents or unusual occurrences.
Ensure infection control, hygiene, and safety protocols are followed.
Coordination:
Collaborate with lab, radiology, pharmacy, and support teams for seamless patient care.
Support consultants during ward rounds, procedures, and surgeries.
