Position Summary: This position will work within Pharma Services Group to support computer software configuration management (SCM) services and provide a world-class commerce experience for Clinical Trials Division (CTD) customers. The Software Configuration Engineer provides SCM support throughout a software product's life cycle (initial software development and support after production release). Roles & Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with and gather input from management and lead developers to implement process enhancements and improvements to SCM practices.
  • Experienced in Build and Integration Management.
  • Create Software Configuration Management Plan for application projects.
  • Perform post-deployment audit for software projects under the applicable plan(s).
  • Provide coordination and planning to help define and implement SCM policies and governance.
  • Develop methods/utilize tools (where available) to track changes across software application projects to ensure all changes to the SCM plan(s) are known and documented.
  • Work with the development and support teams to track and document SCM plan changes for each release.
  • Effectively manage SCM plan communications with internal stakeholders.
  • Support review of software project releases for operational readiness.
  • Partner with IT staff to provide SCM guidance and ensure compliance with SCM methodology, policies and SOPs.
  • Inform management of issues identified during SCM activities.
  • Recommend appropriate actions to address issues found during SCM activities.
  • Build customer allegiance by actively seeking information to understand both internal and external customers’ circumstances, problems, expectations and needs.
  • Applies Good Manufacturing Principles in all areas of responsibility.
  • Demonstrates and drives the Thermo Fisher values – Integrity, Intensity, Involvement and Innovation (The Four I’s).
  • Perform duties at the direction of IT Management and the Senior Engineers/Analysts in a team environment.
  • Other duties may be assigned to meet business needs.
  • Work in a geographically separated team in different time zones.
  • Contribute to innovation and process improvement efforts.
Experience
  • Bachelor or Master's Degree (or higher) from an accredited university.
  • 4+ years of experience in an environment focused on software development.
  • 4+ years of Software Configuration Engineering experience.
  • Experience in an FDA-regulated (GxP) environment is preferred, not required.
