Detailed description: : The Regulatory Certification Engineer is responsible for planning, coordinate, preparing, outsourcing regulatory certification testing and concludes with the delivery of approved regulatory certification for Radio type approval, Telecommunications and Wireless Technologies.

Typical Duties

Plan resources, test strategy and test equipment.

  • Work with Program Team to understand the applicable regulatory certification required.
  • Work with the team to identify the appropriate test facility and location.
  • Engage with test facilities and review quote, timing.
  • Make recommendation on preferred supplier.
  • Support the creation of PO's to support outsourced tests.
  • Support the definition and build of the required test equipment.
  • Review of related information documents and test samples, ensuring timely approval of homologation, per US government requirement
  • Track and explain new Electrical/Electronic regulatory requirements, checking that related E/E department receives newest regulatory requirement in time
  • In-house homologation database management expediting information sharing
  • Identify Electrical/Electronic system legal requirement and cascade to E/E system
  • Define label and owner's manual requirements.
  • Support the creation of PO's to support RTA certification external services (Testing, external Agency, Translation of documents, LR service)
  • Define Mark requirements (label, end user manual and Packaging) based on the nominated supplier input.
  • Creation of the technical Documentation file
Conduct Tests.
  • Manage test facility performing certification test.
  • Monitor and inform project team of test progress.
  • Communicate status vs. initial timing to the project team.
  • Work with the labs and project teams to develop recovery plans were necessary and feasible.
Review Results and Report
  • Review data while tests are being implemented and document any issues found in line with the program teams requirements.
  • Work with PD Team to identify the root cause the issue.
  • Summary Report / Review supplier certification report.
  • Update of the technical documentation file.
  • Update certification log.
  • Store certificates in agreed location.
  • Follow, Monitoring Renewals certificates
  • Monitoring the Regulatory requirements
Engineering Interface:
  • Attend all required program team meetings.
  • Provide input to quotes using the departments quote process.
  • Work with Systems Engineer and PDTL to ensure all Certification Requirements are understood and scheduled at the beginning of the program.
Quality:
  • Ensure all testing is conducted in compliance with applicable quality standards..
  • All testing to be performed in accordance with ISO/TS 16949 - 17025
  • Ensure that Scope of International standard are included in the ISO-17025
Requirements

Years of Experience: 3-5 years' experience in automotive electronics design environment

Degree Strongly Preferred: Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Industrial Eng.

Desired Competencies/Experience
  • Degree in Electrical, Electronics, Telecommunications or Industrial Engineering;
  • Fluent in English
  • Experience in EMC / EMI compliance
  • Connectivity / Telematics design experience
  • RF design experience ( recommended but not mandatory)
  • Broad knowledge of product design, manufacturing and assembly techniques in an electronics environment
  • Ability to successfully build working relationships, especially with external test and certification suppliers, design engineering, program managers and program teams
  • Excellent communication skills, including both written and verbal communication and the ability to develop presentations for both the technical community and management.
