Data Architect, Cloud, Data & Analytics \xe2\x80\x93 Asia Pacific
Are you an enthusiastic Data Engineering & Analytics professional with deep experience in advising customers on cloud, data and analytics platform? Do you enjoy experimenting with new data stores (e.g., HDFS, Azure Data Lake, Azure Blob, Apache HBase), messaging systems (e.g., Apache Kafka, Azure Event Hubs), and data processing engines (e.g., Apache Hadoop, Apache Spark, Azure HDInsight), and find innovative ways to positively improve data architectures? Would you like to play a role in the success of modernizing our existing client base to cloud native data architectures ?
If yes, we are looking for an experienced SAS Data Architect in a global team to assist sales teams, pre-sales teams, and senior and executive management to maximize revenue opportunities and ensure the highest levels of customer satisfaction with a focus on all facets of data engineering and analytics. The role involves utilizing the entire SAS portfolio of data & analytics technology (e.g.: SAS Data Management, SAS Access connectors, SAS Viya and related database technologies, Visual Data Mining & Machine Learning, Intelligent Decisioning) along with other new data stores and messaging systems to ensure customers have the most modern data management & analytics capabilities with appropriate innovation and automation capabilities to meet their current and evolving business needs.


Primary Responsibilities

• Engages and understands existing landscape of data, tools and systems and SAS portfolio available to support modernizing existing customers.
• Conducts customer sessions for requirements gathering data discovery, analysis, reporting, and presentation.
• Supports data acquisition, validation, cleaning/preparation, and management from incoming data sources to facilitate analysis.
• Proposes architectures blending immediate needs of customers for tactical data with helping support and direct longer term, scalable strategies for the business\xe2\x80\x99s operational and analytics.
• Demonstrates proficiency in use of SAS Viya software.
• Contributes and/or reviews proposals, documentation, publications, and enablement materials.
• Works with product marketing, product management, sales and R&D groups to validate market driven sales approaches to support sales plays and ensure customer and market direction input is reflected in ongoing releases.
• Identifies opportunities to improve systems, process, and data, eliminate gaps in performance, architecture and bring accurate and timely information to stakeholders.
• Evangelize best practices by educating customers and internal teams in becoming their trusted advisor, providing an overall business solution.
• Other duties as assigned.

Essential:

• Ability to work proactively, self-motivated in an international team.
• Broad experience across various data technologies.
• Hands-on experience with some or all the mentioned data stores, data processing engines, messaging systems and analytics technologies \xe2\x80\x93 building and running demos, contributing to POC\xe2\x80\x99s with a variety of software components.
• Good experience on different data ingestion methods to lead data from external sources, across various data formats like structured and semi-structured.
• Experience on pipeline management involving configuration and usage for real-time data consumption using messaging systems like Apache Kafka, others.
• Ability to bridge the gap between the business and the technology (relating business requirements to technical capabilities and solutions to business value).
• Ability to drive consultative discussions with customers to analyze requirements, share best practices and explore solutions.
• Ability to interact at all levels with customers (from analysts to CxOs).
• Fluent in written and spoken English.
• Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills, public speaking experience.
• Flexibility to travel to support opportunities and enablement, primarily in the Asia Pacific region, but also globally.
• Pre-sales experience preferred.

Additional Qualifications:

• Real-life experience building and implementing data architectures supporting analytics processes would be an advantage.
• Knowledge of how data management and governance is managed around those and all analytics technologies.
• Previous experience of SAS technologies (Base SAS software/SAS STAT/SAS OR procedures).
• Experience with SQL databases, advanced SQL Query Optimization, performance tuning and table optimisation.
• Familiarity with Kubernetes is a plus.
• Experience in working in virtual and distributed teams.
• Fluency in additional Asian languages.
