Job Description


To lead a team accountable for the development and delivery of all projects related to Home insecticides and Personal Insect repellent. To represent R&D, providing technical expertise and interfacing effectively with other functions in the business. To be responsible for the management of all technical matters and expertise within the relevant group. To take a leading and proactive approach to the delivery of projects, innovation and cost saving/harmonization opportunities

RESPONSIBILITIES / ACCOUNTABILITIES :

- Lead a team with global responsibility for Home Insecticides and Personal Care Innovation pipeline and enhancement of existing products in line with the defined Category Strategy.

- Have a sound understanding of consumer needs and insights for Pest Control, underpinning product development and delivery and resulting in exciting and relevant new ideas and opportunities appropriate for Pest Control portfolio.

- To develop a sound commercial knowledge and a close working relationship with the Category Marketing GBMS(s) to understand the needs, thus ensuring the development team is able to respond to business needs.

- Work closely with the Pest Control OI team, Entomology team, R&D Pest Innovation Hubs, SCRS team, to ensure that projects and technologies are developed seamlessly and supported to become successful market launches

- With the R&D Category Director, generate the technical content of Innovation Development Briefs and ensure that all R&D sections are complete and consistent. Following authorization of the IDBs, to be accountable for:

a) The management, communication, and achievement of project development milestones and objectives

b) Liaison with appropriate development and supply chain personnel to ensure completion of all activities to plan

c) Successful handover to Supply and launch to the market

- To provide support to R&D Ops globally and roll-outs

- To build a cohesive, motivated and professional team within a results-oriented culture, where personal Responsibility/initiative, teamwork, and mutual respect are key and to develop team members fully.

- To be responsible for ensuring that all development activity within the team conforms to legislative, Health and Safety and environmental requirements, including the adoption and tracking of laboratory best practices.

- To support communication with external partners (suppliers, universities, co-packers.) to ensure the continued delivery of innovative and consumer relevant products that help to grow the business.

To proactively track and respond to competitor threats by :

a) Understanding their development activities

b) Advising Category Marketing team and the business of competitor threats

c) identifying technical solutions in response to such threats

KEY CHALLENGES:

- Working with Category Marketing at the start of each project to develop clear, precise and aligned Innovation Development Briefs

- Allocation of resources within the team to most efficiently meet project objectives and timelines in agreement with the Category strategy

- Effectively managing internal and external interfaces to ensure - seamless- development and project handover Ensuring the timely completion of specifications and support data to a high standard - required for Technical

- Dossiers and project handover

- Building an environment and culture that supports the core values and which enables the development of key talent

EDUCATION QUALIFICATION :

ROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE :

- Good degree in a relevant scientific discipline

- Relevant experience within FMCG environment including running a development team

- Strong and demonstrated problem solving skills

- Experience with recruitment, management, and development of people

- Results oriented, entrepreneurial and self-motivated, with solid planning and organizational capabilities, a bias for action, and the capability to define, evaluate and take risks

- Good leadership, motivational and interpersonal skills

- Global mindset, commercial understanding of corporate and operational business issues
