The Quality Executive ensures that all paper packaging materials meet quality standards. The role involves inspecting raw materials, monitoring production processes, validating print quality, and ensuring final product consistency.
Key Responsibilities1. Incoming Material Inspection
Check GSM, burst factor (BF), RCT, moisture, and thickness of paper/board.
Inspect inks, adhesives, liners, and fluting media as per specifications.
Verify supplier quality documents and maintain incoming inspection records.
2. In-Process Quality Checks
Monitor corrugation process: flute profile, moisture control, bonding strength, and warp.
Inspect die-cutting, pasting, stitching, lamination, and printing processes.
Conduct sampling and inline inspection at various production stages.
Ensure machine operators follow SOPs and quality guidelines.
3. Print Quality Inspection
Examine color consistency, registration, trapping, and shade matching.
Conduct visual inspection for defects: smudging, scumming, variation, misprint, etc

4. Finished Goods Inspection
Check dimensions, creasing, folding accuracy, edge quality, and structural strength.
Verify carton assembly, stitching/pasting quality.
Conduct drop tests, compression tests, and other quality performance checks.
Manage batch approval for dispatch.
5. Documentation & Reporting
Maintain QC reports, test records, deviation logs, and non-conformance reports (NCR).
Prepare daily quality checklists and production QC summaries.
Maintain machine calibration and sample retention records.
6. Quality Improvements
Identify recurring defects and conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA).
Implement corrective & preventive actions (CAPA).
Work closely with production and maintenance teams for process improvements.
Monitor rejections and help reduce waste (trim loss, rework, misprints).
7. Customer Quality Support
Support customer inspections and quality approvals.
Address customer complaints regarding print or box quality.
Coordinate with sales and production for quality-related feedback.
Skills & Competencies
Knowledge of paper packaging quality parameters (GSM, BF, RCT, Moisture, Cobb Test).
Understanding of corrugation, printing (offset/flexo), die-cutting, and finishing processes.
Ability to identify print defects and structural defects.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Good communication and coordination abilities.
Proficiency in MS Excel and quality documentation.
Attention to detail, process-driven approach.
Qualifications
Diploma / BE / B.Tech in Printing Technology, Paper Technology, Mechanical, or related field.
OR B.Sc. in relevant stream.
1-3 years of experience in the Paper Packaging/Corrugation/Printing industry (freshers can also be considered based on company requirement).
