The Alexa Smart Home team is focused on making Alexa the user interface for the home. We're seeking a Quality Assurance Engineer to help develop test automation infrastructure and strategy. This individual will be setting up processes for improving the quality, diversity, and customer experience of smart home devices. The ideal teammate enjoys Alexa and has a successful track record of delivering the highest quality smart products. A commitment to teamwork, knowledge of IoT systems and device firmware, strong CS fundamentals, experience with on-device test practices, and strong communication skills (to both business and technical partners), are absolute requirements.

Key job responsibilities
  • Work self-sufficiently to develop and drive test planning, strategy, and test cases for both automated and manual testing, with a heavy focus on automation. Work closely with firmware, ecosystem, and automation framework developers, dev teams in India, related partner teams within Amazon, and the immediate QA teams in Seattle and Arlington to both ensure product quality and to contribute to Continuous Integration efforts.
  • Development of an efficient and effective device interop testing matrix for daily testing purposes and targeted build regression testing (ideally automated).
  • Ongoing development and refinement of requirements for partner development with the Alexa Connect Kit.
  • Define Quality Metrics and implement measurements to determine test effectiveness, testing efficiency, and measure the overall quality of the ACK experience across firmware, SDK, and the developer portal
  • Work with the automation framework to improve and maintain an automated test infrastructure and automation test harness for a multi-platform product that will be used to validate all aspects of product operation.
  • Analyze automated test run results and debug logs. Develop test metrics, analytics, and test reports to assess overall product stability and launch readiness.
  • Integrate with existing infrastructure to establish a quality process for a continuous build and test cycle.
  • Establish processes and tool sets to maintain automation scripts and generate regular reports, contributing ongoing streamlined data to engineering dashboards.

A day in the life

You'll improve process and product stability by driving effective use of the resulting automated test metrics. You'll own planning and execution of test strategies, including identifying/prioritizing automation opportunities for features and test cases. Your work will have a significant impact on the quality and delivery speed of our software and our business.
