Day to Day Activities
Help and educate team in writing quality test cases. Diff b/w Unit Vs. Smoke Vs. Regression testing
Design and develop strategies that will automate the current manual processes
Designing and Maintaining the current QA framework to stabilize/improve the shortfalls
Plan to achieve in-sprint automation
Publishing Automation reports on the build quality in lower environments to avoid promoting bad build further
Bring in Agile discipline in the team
Pitch in and help out where your efforts most effectively improve quality
Integrating automation with Jenkins
Increasing productivity of the team
Improvement
Improved documentation and test strategy
Work with project managers/development architects to define improved coding standards and test instrumentation and interfaces
Review and understand existing bug reports, test plans, test processes and suggest improvements. This includes functional, regression, performance, security, and other methodologies - to guide QA in making improved test plans.
Evaluate test tools including automation for the previous step, including build verification and IDE plugins and lint programs to catch bugs earlier than waiting for the finished build - Important as team always waits for finished build to start testing
Spend time developing testing infrastructure, test authoring frameworks or evaluating features in order to create complex tests.
Reporting
Publishing Sprint & Monthly reports to clients after reviewing with manager
Work with support team to gather end-user metrics on bugs reported, and demonstrate to management that your efforts have resulted in higher quality
Individual Focus
Perform research to improve the knowledge in areas allowing you to become more effective & efficient
You must keep updating your knowledge, and then iteratively continue to improve quality as a team
Team Mgmt.
Talking to individuals and providing them feedback
Planning their learning path
Tracking leave plans and publishing in confluence
Knowing their strengths and weakness to organize the team
Weekly/Fortnightly catch up with manager to highlight any areas which needs attention
Publishing reports with onsite POC on Automation progress and next set of plan (Dashboard)
