Job Description

The Applications Development Python Lead is a senior level position responsible for accomplishing results through the design, development and implement new or revised application systems and programs in coordination with the Technology team. The overall objective of this role is to drive applications systems analysis and programming activities.

Responsibilities:

• Utilize knowledge of applications development procedures and concepts, and basic knowledge of other technical areas to identify and define necessary system enhancements, including using script tools and analyzing/interpreting code
• Consult with users, clients, and other technology groups on issues, and recommend programming solutions, install, and support customer exposure systems
• Apply fundamental knowledge of programming languages for design specifications.
• Analyze applications to identify vulnerabilities and security issues, as well as conduct testing and debugging
• Serve as advisor or coach to new or lower level analysts
• Identify problems, analyze information, and make evaluative judgements to recommend and implement solutions
• Resolve issues by identifying and selecting solutions through the applications of acquired technical experience and guided by precedents
• Has the ability to operate with a limited level of direct supervision.
• Can exercise independence of judgement and autonomy.
• Acts as SME to senior stakeholders and /or other team members.
• Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.

Qualifications:

• 12+ years of relevant experience in the Financial Service industry
• Intermediate level experience in Applications Development role
• Consistently demonstrates clear and concise written and verbal communication
• Demonstrated problem-solving and decision-making skills
• Ability to work under pressure and manage deadlines or unexpected changes in expectations or requirements
• Work closely with quants and risk managers to design, develop, deploy and support new innovative business solutions
• Work within a global team in an agile environment, so strong communications skills are very important
• Experience developing/designing high quality data-driven systems in Python
• Python data engineering stack and libraries such as Fast API / Numpy / Pandas / Jupyter / Airflow

Education:

• Bachelor's degree/University degree or equivalent experience

Roles & Responsibilities:

1. Writing efficient, reusable, testable, and scalable code

2. Understanding, analyzing, and implementing - Business needs, feature modification requests, conversion into software components

3. Integration of user-oriented elements into different applications, data storage solutions

4. Developing - Backend components to enhance performance and receptiveness, server-side logic, and platform, statistical learning models.

5. Enhancing the functionalities of current software systems

Technical Skills-

1. Thorough hands on in Core python, especially in tasks like string manipulation, OS interactions and OOPS programming etc.

2. Code packaging, release, and deployment

4. Database knowledge

5. Comfortable with working with varied data sources: flat files, Databases, JSON , cloud repositories, etc.

6. Object-relational mapping

7. Code versioning tools like Git, SVN, etc

8. Basic Linux and shell scripting

9. Having good knowledge of CI/CD tools like Jenkin.

10. Knowledge about system interaction libraries in python line sub process, multiprocessing, multi-threading etc.

Good to have:

1. Working with Python libraries like Pandas, NumPy, etc.

2. Basic knowledge of statistics (person with Data Science background will have this implicitly).

Work experience in Finance area specially investment banking/Risk domain is preferable.
