Position Title: Project Officer



Location: Delhi (with travel to Jhabua district, Madhya Pradesh)



Duration: 11 Months (Likely to be extended)



Position Summary



The Project Officer will provide overall leadership, coordination and technical oversight for the implementation of Project SHE. This role will ensure high-quality execution of all project components - installation of sanitary infrastructure, capacity building, menstrual hygiene awareness initiatives, community engagement and state/district-level convergence. The position will also be responsible for ensuring compliance with donor requirements, high-quality reporting and strong coordination with government departments and field teams.

About the Project



Project SHE (Sanitation, Health and Empowerment) is an integrated adolescent health initiative designed to improve menstrual hygiene, reproductive health, nutrition and anaemia prevention among tribal adolescents in Jhabua district of Madhya Pradesh. The project will directly reach school-going adolescents, parents, teachers and community members through a structured blend of awareness generation, behaviour change communication, infrastructure support and institutional strengthening. The project also aims to strengthen convergence with government schemes such as RKSK, WIFS and IFA distribution, ensuring improved access to adolescent health services. Grounded in participatory methods and culturally contextualized IEC material in Hindi and Bhili, Project SHE seeks to create an enabling environment in tribal schools and communities - promoting dignity, health and long-term sustainability for continued menstrual hygiene support.

Key Responsibilities



1. Develop detailed activity plans, timelines and implementation frameworks for all project components.

2. Provide strategic and technical guidance to the Field Officer and school-level stakeholders.

3. Ensure alignment of activities with the project design, donor guidelines and government norms.

4. Coordinate with district-level and state-level departments including Health, Education, and Women & Child Development.

5. Strengthen institutional convergence for menstrual hygiene management (MHM), adolescent health and school health initiatives.

6. Facilitate departmental participation in the district-level dissemination workshop.

7. Review field reports, MIS data, training records and documentation submitted by the field team.

8. Conduct periodic field monitoring visits to ensure adherence to quality benchmarks.

9. Consolidate data into monthly, quarterly and final donor reports, highlighting progress, challenges and outcomes.

10. Maintain accountability for timelines, budget utilization and deliverables.

11. Develop and review training material and communication content to ensure accuracy and relevance.

12. Mentor the Field Officer and provide on-the-job guidance for community engagement and documentation.

13. Oversee the development of knowledge products such as case studies, photo stories, IEC material and progress briefs.

14. Ensure adherence to donor standards, statutory guidelines and internal policies.

15. Coordinate with finance and administration teams for audits, payments and compliance documentation.

Required Qualifications & Experience



Master's degree in Social Work/ Public Health/ Rural Development/ Gender Studies, or related fields.

Minimum 3-5 years of experience in managing development projects, preferably in MHM, WASH, adolescent health or school-based interventions.

Experience in donor reporting, government coordination and field team management.

Exposure to tribal geographies, especially of Madhya Pradesh (Jhabua district) and community engagement will be preferred.

Skills & Competencies



Strong project management and coordination skills.

Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.

Proficiency in report writing, data interpretation and documentation.

Knowledge of MS Office

Ability to work with diverse stakeholders and government officials.

Problem-solving approach with attention to timelines and quality.

Willingness to travel regularly for field monitoring.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: ₹30,000.00 - ₹40,000.00 per month
