  • Wholesale Credit Risk Management & Analytics (WCRM&A) Transformation is part of the Risk Transformation function within Global Risk and is the change partner for Risk related aspects for business. It supports the implementation of the Group Strategy and makes change a source of sustainable competitive advantage for HSBC. The job is a major point of contact with the business, Risk function and IT. The role in Risk Transformation gives a very good exposure to several risk systems like CARM and wREN. Associates also develop a strong grip of risk concepts and products. The projects within this team are related to regulatory, digital, policy or system level changes. The transformation function is responsible for delivery of change projects across WCRM&A globally, working at regional and group levels.
The Opportunity:
  • The role supports the Wholesale Credit Risk & Analytics Transformation team. The project manager will be expected to plan, mobilise, and direct projects of medium to high complexity and scale from definition to closure. They are typically responsible for the end-to-end delivery of a single project or work stream of a larger project or programme, proactively balancing scope, schedule, budget, risks, outcomes, and benefits.
What you\xe2\x80\x99ll do:
  • Plans effectively around delivery constraints and optimises the plan to maximise benefits and minimise risk. Develops the plan within constraints, considering the delivery approach, key milestones and dependencies within the plan, requirements and scope, effort and resources, budgets, and quality.
  • Ensures the baselined scope, requirements, benefits, schedule, and budget are managed as outlined in HSBC Change Framework. Identifies and intervenes where there is slippage and variance from plan.
  • Proactively monitors project execution to effectively identify risks/issues/dependencies as they arise throughout the project lifecycle. Takes ownership of critical issues and ensures resolution within agreed timescales and implements mitigating plans against identified risks and issues. Escalates when needed to the Programme Manager (remaining calm, knowing when to escalate, and escalates with possible solutions).
  • Collaborates and builds positive stakeholder relationships providing regular updates to resolve high priority issues affecting the project.
  • Obtains buy-in from the project sponsor, Steering Committee and other stakeholders for all key project plans, commitments, and changes including requirements, quality assurance plans, budget, schedule, and scope changes.
Ensures governance processes and decisions are applied consistently, including:
  • Engaging the project sponsor and stakeholders effectively
  • Creation and running of effective Steering Committee, who make focused decisions, based upon accurate and timely status, performance reports. Using the committee as the first point of escalation.
RequirementsWhat you will need to succeed in the role:
  • Graduate/ Postgraduate with minimum 6-10 years of banking experience
  • Relevant experience of 5+ years as a Project Manager (in formal end to end PM roles)
  • Experience working on banking projects along with risk management , risk framework is essential
  • Knowledge in any of the risk experience is required (Wholesale Credit risk, Market Risk, Operational Risk, Traded Risk)
  • Experience in working on transformation and change projects within banking is required
  • Have an Agile mindset with constant target to deliver more value to customers effectively and efficiently
  • Experienced in working with global virtual teams across different geographies, culture and time-zones
  • Preferable to have experience with Waterfall and Agile project management, Certification in PMP or Prince2 or equivalent, RM/PRM
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Stakeholder management is essential
