This is a Project Engineer-Safety Instrumented Systems role, reporting to the HR Business Partner in Business Area - India Operations Centre, Process Automation (INOPC PA) based in Bangalore, India. You will be primarily responsible to be a part of a global engineering team supporting 20+ countries in delivering Safety Instrumented Systems projects (Design, Engineering, testing, and commissioning of SIS).Your responsibilities Evaluating, selecting, and applying standard techniques and procedures to perform engineering assignments Finalizing \'Fail-Safe Philosophy\' and other key concepts as part of Kick-Off and Design Freeze Meetings Applying basic Design Thinking / Design for Excellence concepts in projects Actively utilizing checklists to perform design verification according to applicable standards and engineering guidelines Using standard processes and tools applicable to one\'s area of responsibility Supporting technical risk assessments and implementing resulting actions for one\'s projects Ensuring Bill of Material (BOM) for the project meets contractual obligations and project gross margin requirements by not generating Project Left-Over Material (PLOM) Following work plans and cost estimates provided by the Project Manager and ensures quality deliverables on time and at targeted cost Collaborating with the Supply Chain function and the Project Manager(s) to meet the contractual obligations Coordinating with Manufacturing and Testing functions to ensure the technical solutions are appropriately manufactured/ staged and tested Coordinating with Commissioning / Service functions to ensure the designs are appropriately installed and commissioned (if applicable as part of the contract) Your background BE /B Tech (Instrumentation / Electronics / Electrical) Minimum 5-7 years of design, engineering, testing, and commissioning experience of Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS) in oil & gas production / refining / petrochemical industry Must have good communication & leadership capabilities Must have strong team-building skills Experienced in the selection, specification, configuration, testing and maintenance of safety instrumented systems (SIS) following IEC 61508/ 61511 Experience in oil & gas process knowledge, strong understanding of process units and business drivers Experience and knowledge of instrument and control systems through design and field installation Ability to design and engineer SIS using safety requirements specifications, alarm specification, cause and effect diagrams, system block diagrams, logic narratives and function / logic block diagrams Proficient with SIS hardware design, application programming and HMI graphics development Proficient with SIS related deliverables including functional design specifications, response time calculations, test specifications and SIL verification calculations Thorough understanding of P&ID symbology and presentation techniques Experience in SIS hardware inspection, FAT, SAT, loop checks, start-up, and commissioning Knowledge of instrument maintenance practices Must be willing to travel to customer sites for commissioning activities of SIS More about us ABB Energy Industries is enabling safe, smart and sustainable projects and operations for businesses across the oil, gas, chemicals, life sciences, power generation and water sectors.
