Job description

To drive the activities of product development in the Engineering Department at Dapodi Plant (Pune), we are looking for the Engineering who will report to Engineering Manager OFA. Project Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, monitoring and closing the projects. Achievements of project objectives agreed upon in advance within framework of time and budget and with the required quality.

Mission:

To support and act as an active team member of the cross departmental teams for product development. You should have very high affinity towards the engineering product design and development. You should be very interested and creative to be able to design and develop quality products in lowest possible cost. You will be the driver in making engineering team benchmark teams delivering high quality products and develop sustainable knowledge for future.

Roles and Responsibilities:

• Designing and selecting of components/systems and ensure the specifications for the prototypes and serial products.
• Coordinating tests
• Verifying and making technical and economical choices in a project
• Keep close contact with the different departments to capture their needs in the design in essence with Marketing, Production, service & logistics
• Support the planning of projects
• Reuse of existing knowledge and support the storing and build-up of knowledge
• Release final documentation of material. Releasing customer documentation like manuals and spare part lists. Following up the product after introduction together with aftersales
• Focus on cost reductions and lead special cost reduction projects as decided in the PCM.
• Work closely together with sourcing department for designed parts.
• Releasing all engineering drawings and specifications through system.
• Analyze the critical components of the machine and draw the specifications in design phase.
• Execute the design in a modular way and according to Atlas Copco guidelines.
• Follow and document the design status as specified in NPD process.
• Take initiatives and bring in creative ideas to control and reduce the cost of new and existing products.
• Active participation in PTM, TCM for NPD, production issues and field issues.
• Co-ordination with Euro Chiller teams are necessary and should be able to run projects with divisional requirements.

What we expect of you?

Experience requirements

• Minimum 5-7 years product design and development experience in mechanical engineering.
• Experience in a design and development environment is a plus.
• Experience with the chiller technology is a plus
• Should have good knowledge of NPD process.
• Should have very good analytical skills.
• Should be conversant with Atlas Copco standards, design and drawing methodology.
• Should interact with suppliers and visit them whenever necessary
• Should be conversant with Office 365.

Educational requirements

Engineering Graduate- Mechanical Engineering.

Post-graduation is an added advantage

Knowledge

• Good communication skills in English language (verbal and written)
• Able to work independently with mechanical/electrical CAD drawing software (AutoCAD and Inventor)
• BPCS and PLM Knowledge must.
• Knowledge on design and development of chiller

New Product Development in line with the Atlas Copco group, CtP process. * Able to work within a time frame in line with management requirement.

• Able to plan and organize effectively with the right sense of urgency.
• Customer focus is must.
• Affinity with Thermodynamics, mechanical design and calculations/simulations.
• Affinity with Industrial Chiller/Cooler is a plus
• Knowledge of Matlab & Excel or other calculation tools is a plus.
