New Delhi, India Purpose The Renewable Energy (RE) team is one of the seven focus areas at the CEEW. Our work supports India\xe2\x80\x99s - and the world\xe2\x80\x99s - clean energy transition. It does so through timely, research-based interventions based on extensive policy, regulatory, and market analyses. The team engages extensively with central government and states to formulate new policies, schemes and fit for purpose innovative solutions supporting an accelerated deployment of RE. The engagement also includes implementation support towards successful roll out of proposed solutions. The team also assesses, through surveys, India\xe2\x80\x99s renewable energy jobs potential and skills requirement, the risks facing renewable energy investments, and designing strategic market mechanisms to address the identified risks. A suitable candidate for the position would support team\xe2\x80\x99s ongoing efforts on developing the Just and Inclusive Transition programme. The resource would particularly support the activities under the \xe2\x80\x98Inclusive transition\xe2\x80\x99 vertical that focuses on
  • mapping and estimating the green jobs (direct, indirect, and induced) across the entire value chain in the renewable energy sector (solar, wind, energy storage, green hydrogen etc.)
  • identifying the skills and supporting the development of necessary skill development programmes with relevant stakeholders
  • supporting a responsible deployment and expansion of renewable energy capacity by working in close coordination with various stakeholders. This would involve understanding and developing solutions for mitigating land conflicts, common resource utilisation, community participation in decision making etc.
In addition to the duties and responsibilities below, the individual should be prepared, as and when necessary, to take on additional responsibilities. Job Duties and Accountabilities Primary Responsibilities Research
  • Lead the allocated project(s) under the programme end-to-end. This includes, but not limited to (i) framing the research questions, (ii) identifying the target audience (states, industry, ministry), (iii) developing the strategy, (iv) conducting literature review, (v) collecting data from secondary as well as primary sources, if needed, (vi) performing necessary analysis, employing diverse qualitative and quantitative research methods, (vii) developing an outreach strategy, (viii) strategic dissemination of the research and (ix) assessing the impact created.
  • Review large amounts of data using a variety of methodologies and software tools.
  • Lead in writing research reports/papers, briefs and issue notes which could be circulated among industry associations, state and central government officials and other stakeholders.
  • Work with senior researchers on conceptualising new research projects.
  • Track the day-to-day regulatory, policy and market changes in the Indian states, especially on skilling requirements in RE industry, land acquisition for RE projects.
  • Travel to states, whenever necessary, to conduct meetings, community engagement, and collecting evidence or primary data.
Programme Assistance
  • Lead the development of overall programme strategy and its effective implementation
  • Establish, manage, and promote relationships with existing and potential partners
  • Prepare project proposals/applications for research and general donor funding
  • Lead the strategic outreach of the research outputs through engagement with a broader network of policymakers, industry and other stakeholders
  • Mentor the research analyst/consultants/interns as required.
Selection Criteria Education
  • Strong academic credentials, preferably a Master\xe2\x80\x99s degree with a specialisation in social science, economics, development economics, Public Policy or a related field
Work experience
  • At least 3-5 years of relevant work experience.
  • Sound understanding of India\xe2\x80\x99s RE sector and policy environment
  • Experience with community engagement and surveys would be an advantage
  • Strong analytical abilities and familiarity with research methods in the applicable fields
  • Effective oral and written communication skills in English and Hindi
  • Proficiency in word-processing, presentation, and data analysis tools
  • Proven track record of delivering high quality written content for different mediums.
