to join our precision gear manufacturing team. The ideal candidate will have
at least 5 years of hands-on experience
in manual hobbing operations, gear cutting, and machine setting. You will be responsible for supervising hobbing operations, setting up machines, ensuring product quality, and training junior operators when needed.
Set up manual hobbing machines according to job specifications.
Select and install proper cutting tools, gears, and fixtures.
Adjust machine settings such as speed, feed, depth of cut, etc., for optimal performance.
Perform trial runs and make fine adjustments to ensure correct tooth profile and dimensions.
2. Gear Cutting & Inspection
Supervise the gear hobbing process from start to finish.
Monitor gear quality -- pitch, tooth thickness, lead error, and surface finish.
Use precision instruments like micrometers, vernier calipers, gear roll testers, and profile projectors.
Identify and resolve quality issues before components proceed to the next stage.
3. Team Supervision & Workforce Management
Lead a team of machine operators and helpers in the hobbing section.
Assign tasks based on skill level and production priorities.
Monitor individual performance and provide guidance or training as needed.
Ensure discipline, attendance, and safety compliance among the team.
4. Production Planning & Coordination
Interpret job cards, engineering drawings, and daily production targets.
Coordinate with planning and production managers to meet deadlines.
Report daily output, machine downtime, and material requirements.
Assist in inventory control for tools, cutters, blanks, and measuring instruments.
5. Quality Control & Documentation
Ensure compliance with quality standards and tolerances.
Fill out inspection reports and maintain documentation for each batch.
Coordinate with QC (Quality Control) department for approval and audits.
Recommend corrective actions for recurring defects or inefficiencies.
6. Preventive Maintenance & Safety
Conduct daily checks and basic preventive maintenance on hobbing machines.
Report any major breakdowns to the maintenance department.
Maintain cleanliness and organization of the machine area.
Enforce health and safety standards, including use of PPE (personal protective equipment).
7. Continuous Improvement
Identify opportunities for reducing cycle time and improving gear finish.
Provide feedback on machine performance and suggest upgrades or tooling changes.
Stay updated on new hobbing techniques, gear standards (e.g., DIN, AGMA), and measuring tools.
Skills Required
Deep understanding of
