About the Role:

As part of the DesignWorks team, the Production Artist works closely with the Reader\xe2\x80\x99s Digest design and editorial teams to ensure content resources are produced effectively and efficiently. Reporting to the Manager, Production Design, and partnering closely with RD\xe2\x80\x99s US-based Art Directors, the individual has the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, with priorities that may shift due to changing deadline requirements.

About You:

You\xe2\x80\x99re someone who is computer savvy and eager to build your competency as a content designer. You have an excellent eye for data, photography and graphics and have good interpersonal skills for collaborating with other editorial team members. You possess both strong technical and design readiness and can use your expertise to create high-quality finished products that meet organizational goals.

Your Day-to-Day:

• Identifying and resolving photo and art issues that arise during production
• Managing photo assets, making sure correct rights are applied, and preparing images for color correction and digital proofing
• Updating and maintaining InDesign scripts, templates, styles, and branded elements
• Creating and populating WoodWing dossiers with InDesign layout and InCopy articles based on a paginated road map for Large Print and other RD magazine versions
• Working with templates and layout guides, general page formatting
• Resizing Digest layouts to Large Print version, placing and scaling photos and art - Making design revisions, copy edits as needed
• Preflighting files for Digest and Large Print and creating assets for release to printers and promotional partners
• Assisting the DesignWorks print team as needed to keep all Brands on schedule
• Collaborating with other designers, and the DesignWorks team to develop new ideas and efficiencies

You Have:

• Associates degree or equivalent work experience
• 2-3 year\'s experience as a production artist or in the graphic design field
• Proficiency in all Mac-based, industry-standard software programs including, but not limited to: Adobe Creative Cloud \xe2\x80\x93 InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator, Microsoft Office, and Acrobat
• Superior organizational skills and sharp attention to detail
• Great communication skills
• Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills
• Strong prioritization and time management skills
• Aptitude to work on multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines with changing priorities
• General knowledge of publishing or print production terminology and processes
