About the Role:
Reporting to the Creative Director/Magazines & Books, the Manager, Production Design will lead a group of graphic designers in support of the magazine and book products for Taste of Home, Family Handyman, Reader?s Digest and Birds & Blooms. About you:
You are an inspiring manager and designer with a portfolio of print publication design work that provides the skills needed to build and lead a local team in India while collaborating closely with colleagues across continents and time zones. Highly organized, with strong interpersonal communications skills, you are able to guide your team in understanding the design nuances of each of the TMB brands and supervise them in effectively executing against the templates established by the art directors in the US. You have hands-on experience maximizing creative tools, including Adobe InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop; you've worked with and/or are familiar with dynamic content platforms; and you're always on the lookout for new tools to bring quality and efficiencies to content to life in print. Your Day-to-Day:

• Manage a team of senior designers and production designers responsible for designing print magazines (for Taste of Home, Family Handyman and Birds & Blooms) and books (for Taste of Home, Family Handyman, Birds & Blooms, Reader?s Digest, Reminisce and Country)
• Provide your team with constructive feedback to improve their contributions while also managing your own assignments
• Collaborate with the Creative Director and Production Coordinator to remain abreast of product deadlines and to plan proactively for future work
• Lead daily stand-up meetings to confirm what is in the publishing cue and prioritize what the team is working on in order to reach weekly goals
• Oversee the data merge process for all Taste of Home magazines and books

You have:

• A bachelor?s degree in graphic design
• 5+ years? experience in publication design, ideally magazines or books, with a compelling portfolio that reflects your work
• At least 2 years? experience managing junior graphic designers and production artists
• Experience with content production tools such as Adobe InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop; publishing platforms such as Woodwing; quick to learn new platforms
• Demonstrated success in building and maintaining positive relationships with editorial and design team members to get the best overall creative results
• A network of freelancer graphic designers to tap for future recruiting and/or freelance support
• Can work quickly and efficiently with an organized, thorough, and deadline-oriented approach to working
• A commitment to establishing a 24/7 work cycle with teammates in the US
• The ability to recognize when a project or experience is ready to move forward
• Ease with working on multiple assignments at the same time
