The Web Data Platform (WDP) team is responsible for discovering, crawling, selecting and building the most comprehensive, high quality and fresh internet index, processing Trillion+ Web Pages and storing 100s of Peta bytes of data.


Our team invented and pioneered industry leading protocols such as Indexnow.org, leads the efforts to enhance content discovery and updates at scale to bring latest and fresh content to Bing Index. We own and manage data processing pipelines at Web scale such as processing and obtaining insights from sitemaps for all of world wide web. We also built, manage, and evolve high scale consumer facing web master tools for site owners and SEO agencies. In the area of Index Quality, team builds and manages multiple ML models for identification of low quality pages and processes them with low latency. We collaborate with various WebXT Teams, to light up their scenarios using web Index data and platform.


This is a team that has ambitious long-term goals to become a centre of excellence in WDP area. This position offers greater opportunity to define and drive the vision for web data platform team at STCI. We are looking for a Group Engineering Manager who can help advance this team and this technology portfolio.


This team is part of the WebXT Platform org. This org is responsible for innovating, building and operating the backend infrastructure at unprecedented scale, agility and efficiency needed for WebXT services like Bing search, Ads, MSN news, Edge browser, Bing and Azure Maps, and many more consumer experiences like Shopping, Multimedia, eSports, Travels, Locals Info, Weather, etc. and serves 100s of millions of daily active users around the world with high availability and performance.

Responsibilities

We are looking for a senior and experienced engineering leader to build, manage and provide leadership to our fast-growing world class engineering organization for WebData team in India.
You will get to lead a team of engineering managers and engineers and partner with the larger Bing and WebXT teams across the globe.

Qualifications

• A BS degree in Computer Science or related technical discipline or equivalent industry experience.
• 15+ years of total experience engineering, designing, building and shipping software at scale
• 5+ years of team leadership and people management including managing managers

• Track record of building and leading high functioning teams, including recruiting and retaining diverse talent base
• Proven competency in strategic leadership, organizational agility, cross-team collaboration, drive for results, and written and verbal communications
• Experience building software products with diverse engineering teams and stakeholders.
• Demonstrated expertise coding in C, C++, Java, C#, Python
• Have demonstrable experience in architecting and driving implementation of large-scale services and data processing using Hadoop, Spark, Kafka or similar.

• Knowledge of building public and private cloud-based Web solutions with backend orchestrations. Experienced in capacity planning and creating consumption-based architectures.
• Experience in data science, machine learning techniques and frameworks is a plus
