We\'re seeking a future team member for the role of Principal Full-Stack, Java Developer to join our Markets Technology team. This role is located in New York City, New York. In this role, you\'ll make an impact in the following ways: Liquidity Direct business is highly profitable with high revenue margins and as such it contributes significantly to the success of BNY Mellon organization with direct transparency to the Executive Leadership of the firm. The Liquidity Services Technology team within the Markets group is focused on providing our customers with efficient solutions to manage their short-term cash and investment needs. Our platform provides clients with manual and automated capabilities to manage their short-term portfolios to maintain the right mix of cash vs. liquid assets such as Money Market Funds, Exchange Traded Funds, and Commercial Paper. As part of our multi-year expansion, our team is adding new functionality and products to our highly efficient platform, providing our customers with the capabilities they need to drive their businesses. To be successful in this role, we\'re seeking the following: This job is for an experienced and motivated hands-on technology manager to lead out New York team reporting to the global head of the platform. As a Full-Stack hands-on manager in the NY Liquidity Services Technology team, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining Java/Spring-based microservices that drive our platform to meet current and strategic customer needs. You will be working on partnership with the Business and our India based team to advance our platform capabilities in a modern and innovative way. You will also be leading the development for Angular-based front-end components with which our clients interact on a daily basis. Our platform supports users in ad hoc trading as well as sophisticated scheduled trading to inter-convert cash and short-term assets on a daily basis, ensuring the customer has the expected cash-on-hand needed to finance their operations. You will work with fellow services and front-end developers to ensure a robust, highly-scalable, distributed capability that is fault-tolerant and highly efficient. As a Senior member of the team, you will be expected to drive technology research, adoption, and innovation, to ensure the platform remains current, while providing technical guidance and mentoring to more junior developers. Additionally, in your senior role, you will be contributing to architectural direction, and mapping of business cases to the technical architecture. As part of your leadership role you\'ll be responsible for managing people\'s careers, manage their year-end performance reviews and contribute to the firm\'s Diversity, Equity and Inclusion initiative. Bachelor\'s degree in computer science engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent work experience required. 10-14 years of experience in software development required experience in the securities or financial services industry is a plus. Job holder must have understanding interdependencies and business impact of future IT plans. The job holder must have prior lead experience selecting and implementing vendor-specific methodologies and prior consulting experience with structured methodologies. Job holder must have broad experience with multi-platform development tools and toolkits.. Consults with internal business groups to provide high-level application software development services or technical support. Must have thorough and demonstrative knowledge on or both the user-side frontend of a website, as well as the backend, server-side that powers the user-side. Additional requirements include intermediate understanding of security principles, relational databases and architecture design principles. Provides comprehensive senior-level technical consulting to IT management and senior technical staffs. Evaluates compliance with the organization\'s technology standards. Programming well-designed, testable, efficient code. Analyze, design and develop tests and test-automation suites. Develop flowcharts, layouts and documentation to satisfy requirements and solutions. Maintain software functionality and currency (technical debt and gain). Actively participate in code reviews. Integrate software components into a fully functional software system. Apply security and privacy principles. Works with internal business groups on implementation opportunities, challenges, and requirements of various applications. Analyzes information and provides recommendations to address and resolve business issues for a specific business group. Guides and consults with IT management and technical staffs regarding use of emerging technologies and associated services. Participates in defining corporate implementation and integration strategies of new technologies. Active learning engagement. Complete all required mandatory training / policy awareness curricula on time. Use learning tools such as Pluralsight to complete both recommended and aspirational targets set in personal development plans. Stays abreast of emerging technologies. Advocates for innovative, creative technology solutions. Mentors junior level engineers. Expertise in using a specific application development toolkit and proficiency of front end and backend development coding languages such as C#, Java, HTML, NodeJS, CSS, JSON, Angular, JavaScript. BNY Mellon assesses market data to ensure a competitive compensation package for our employees. The base salary for this position is expected to be between $108,000 and $234,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base salary if hired will be determined on an individualized basis, including as to experience and market location, and is only part of the BNYM total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, discretionary bonuses, short and long-term incentive packages, and Company-sponsored benefit programs. This position is at-will and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, change in geographic location, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
