As the Principal Engineer, Mechanical Engineering, you will be playing a key role in supporting Device Engineering development and sustenance activities of PSS &GSS portfolio in Bangalore R&D. You will be responsible for guiding a team of mechanical engineers that aligns with the organization\'s vision and strategic plan. You will be working with the global PSS & GSS R&D teams across Mechanical, Hardware, Systems Engineering and V&V team, as well as interacting with Upstream marketing and clinical teams for requirement gathering, Advanced Manufacturing teams for design transfer, field service team for analyzing and addressing issues while adhering to QMS requirements. You will be expected to, based on significant technical expertise, design, review and approve complex design concepts and provides general direction to technical staff. Utilize solid understanding of theories and practices of a variety of disciplines to manage complex projects or programs within boundaries of quality, time and budget. Need to exhibit creativity and innovation in completing divisional and cross-functional/business unit responsibilities. You will be expected to ensure and contribute to proper documentation and DHF preparation / maintenance for the area of work executed by the Mechanical Engineering Team. This position is based out of Bangalore and reporting to the Manager Of R&D \xe2\x80\x93 Mechanical Engineering for PSS & GSS division of Baxter. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Be the subject matter expert in Mechanical Engineering and design, development and manufacturing transfer of PSS & GSS products
  • Ability to lead by example, ensuring clear accountability and operational excellence. Ensure effective performance management.
  • Collaborate across multiple locations & functional teams such as Electrical hardware Systems Engineering, Verification & Validation, Advanced manufacturing teams, as well as manufacturing partners / suppliers to ensure the projects are executed effectively, to budget & schedule, maintaining highest product quality, safety, performance and reliability..
  • Lead System, sub system and component level engineering design activities by the team, ensuring all technical, quality, safety and reliability requirements are met.
  • Ensure DFM, DFA and DFS principles are taken care during design phase.
  • Ensure required standards of documentation compliant with the QMS and regulatory requirements are maintained including DHF as well as submission documents for product certification by FDA and other regulators.
  • Manage change control, obsolescence management, impact assessment, Supplier change notifications and related documentation for product sustenance.
  • Systematic approach towards understanding customer requirements, ideation, technical feasibility assurance, risk identification & mitigation, engineering design & development, component / sub-system / System level testing & integration of complex design concepts and analysis of technologies that incorporate own area of expertise.
  • Work effectively with cross functional teams including quality, program management, manufacturing, regulatory, medical and clinical for effective implementation of qualification and certification strategy.
  • Collaborate in establishing processes for effective resource management from planning through execution in close collaboration with program management.
  • Responsible for development of state-of-the-art industry expertise and technical competencies for the team.

Your Team:
You will be reporting directly to Manager \xe2\x80\x93 R&D Mechanical Engineering for PSS & GSS, While this is an individual contributor role, team members will be assigned to you from time to time based on project team composition. Your Location: The role is in the BRD facility in Bangalore India. EDUCATION, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s Degree in Mechanical engineering with 12+ years of experience, or master\xe2\x80\x99s in mechanical engineering with 9+ years of experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in end to end product development from concept to manufacturing transfer, preferably those involving structural design, mechanism design, precision positioning, and electronics packaging.
  • Medical device, diagnostics, laboratory testing product or similar products design & development experience is preferred.
  • Must be well versed in engineering disciplines (e.g. Mechanical systems, Materials, Plastics, Mechanism design, Metal fabrication, Welding, Fluid management, Pumps/ Blowers, Integration of motors, Actuators & Sensors, Simulation).
  • Very strong background in any one 3D CAD modeling software such as NX CAD, Creo / Pro E, Solid works, CATIA, and good modeling practices. NX CAD preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of Tolerance Stack up analysis and GD&T practices.
  • Good grasp of DFM, DFA, DFS principles.
  • Knowledge of Risk identification, assessment, and mitigation techniques.
  • Experienced in concept design, detailed engineering, prototyping, design transfer to manufacturing and product life cycle management.
  • Must possess knowledge of related disciplines. Ability to design and implement in own area of expertise.
  • Must be self-motivated, have good interpersonal skills, capable of analyzing and solving complex problems through innovative thought and experience.

  • Understanding of and adherence to FDA, ISO and IEC design control procedures, regulations and standards.
