GSK R&D and Digital and Tech\xe2\x80\x99s collective goal is to deliver business impact, including the acceleration of the discovery and development of medicines and vaccines to patients. GSK Development and Development Digital & Tech are in the final stages of delivering on a multiyear investment aimed at modernizing the clinical development landscape. In order to ensure we maximize the value of the data we generate using these new systems in combination with the data assets we acquire externally, new teams in both the R&D Development and Development Digital & Tech organizations are being established to focus on the governance and design.

As our Principal Cloud Engineer you will form part of a team within Infrastructure Solutions and Delivery joining engineers who are experienced in different technologies, tools and services.

In this exciting role, you will collaborate with Solution Architects in Enterprise Hosting Services (EHS) as well as Product Owners to plan and build products and services/solutions required to support GSK Business Unit\xe2\x80\x99s.

This role requires demonstrated experience and familiarity with some of the following key engineering competencies: Infrastructure as Code, front-end development (Vue.js and/or React), Cloud Security Posture Management, DevOps, Web Hosting/Serverless and agile software lifecycle management.

Key Responsibilities

Deploy and configure scalable and reliable cloud infrastructure solutions using Microsoft Azure and GCP services with a particular focus on PaaS (e.g., Azure App Services, Azure Functions, AKS, GKE, Azure Container Registry, Azure Key Vault, Azure Recovery Services Vault, Azure Storage Account)

Automate infrastructure provisioning and deployment processes using Infrastructure as Code (Ansible/AWX and Terraform).

Stay updated with the latest trends and best practices in cloud infrastructure and contribute to the continuous improvement of cloud infrastructure solutions.

Troubleshoot and resolve cloud infrastructure \xe2\x80\x93 related issues and provide technical advice to Product Owners.

Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior team members, fostering a collaborative and knowledge \xe2\x80\x93 sharing culture within Infrastructure Solutions and Delivery teams.

Optimise resource utilisation and cost management whilst maintaining compliance standards.

Basic Qualifications:

We are looking for individuals with these required skills to achieve our goals:

Experience with at least one programming language: e.g., Python, Java including toolsets for documentation, testing and observability / monitoring (Elasticsearch, Grafana and Prometheus)

Experience with Microsoft Azure and GCP.

Experience or familiarity with On-Prem Infrastructure, DevOps, Containers/Microservices, Serverless, Web Hosting, Integration with REST API, Infrastructure as Code (Ansible/AWX and Terraform).

Experience with modern software engineering practices and cloud centric infrastructure.

Self-starter with a sense of urgency and demonstrable ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously in a deadline driven environment.

Have a passion for \xe2\x80\x98customer experience\xe2\x80\x99.

Experienced in Agile delivery methodologies using tools like Jira and Confluence.

Experienced in DevOps/SRE operational model.

Bachelors (BA/BS) degree, Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering or related subject area or equivalent technical qualification with relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus:

Pharmaceutical Industry experience

Azure and GCP certified.

Terraform Certified.

Passion and genuine interest in technology that can drive business value.
