Principal Applications Engineer
YOUR ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Lead assigned phases (based on role) of automation projects, including concept development, basic engineering, prototyping, detailed engineering and design, construction, start-up, testing and sustainment of custom automated systems;
• Work with local procurement, global trade and legal teams to design an agile strategy for global deployments;
• Follow Bayer and industry best practices while engaging in and leading engineering projects to ensure all project objectives including safety, technical correctness, budget, constructability, schedule, maintainability and operability are met;
• Partner with other engineering disciplines, customers and vendors/suppliers to create technical strategies and identify project opportunities;
• Review check-out, commissioning, testing, start up and field support activities;
• Propose new procedures, standards and practices to stay current with technology and implement improved methods;
• Review safety strategy, design and documentation;
• Support controlling cost and schedule on assigned projects, including project budget/schedule estimation and proposal;
• Create intellectual property and adheres to company procedures for intellectual property protection.
• Influence without authority – collaborate with multiple functions to understand and address challenges
• Digital mindset – explore innovative opportunities on relevant digital technologies

WHO YOU ARE:

• Bachelor’s in engineering, automation technologies or related areas with at least eight years relevant work experience, or Master of Science with at least six years of experience or Ph.D. with at least four years of experience
• Significant and extensive experience in automation design, machine design, test engineering, agricultural engineering, or equivalent experience
• Expert knowledge of safety systems, design documentation standards, automation validation, quality assurance, automated system integration and relevant software/hardware tools.
• Strong organizational and interpersonal skills to deal with people at different levels of management, engineering, suppliers, and internal customers.
• Experience in developing training presentations and presenting training classes

Required Knowledge:

• Specific experience with SolidWorks or equivalent and AutoCAD Electrical.
• Strong English language competencies required.
• Ability to interpret mechanical and electrical drawings.

Desired Knowledge:

• Specific experience with engineering CAD systems such as Solidworks, AutoCAD Electrical or similar.
• Background in operation of agricultural equipment.
