4+ years of hands-on database development and migration experience

Experience with database performance tuning and optimization


Skills


Strong SQL skills in both SQL Server and PostgreSQL


Hands-on experience with AWS DMS and database migration tools


Proficiency in database performance tuning and optimization


Knowledge of Aurora PostgreSQL features and capabilities


Scripting skills (Python, PowerShell, Shell scripting)


Experience with database monitoring tools (pgAdmin, CloudWatch)


Design comprehensive database migration strategy and roadmap from MSSQL to Aurora PostgreSQL


Execute AWS SCT for automated conversion of database objects


Perform manual conversion of complex stored procedures, functions, and packages


Migrate tables, indexes, constraints, and other database objects


Optimize converted objects for Aurora PostgreSQL performance


Document conversion challenges and resolutions


Configure and execute AWS DMS for data migration activities


Monitor data replication and synchronization processes


Perform data validation and integrity checks


Handle incremental data loads and change data capture


Troubleshoot migration issues and performance bottlenecks


Tune PostgreSQL queries and stored procedures for optimal performance


Implement Aurora-specific optimizations and features


Configure connection pooling and resource management


Optimize database parameters and configurations


Create and maintain database monitoring and alerting


Good To Have Skills


Experience with containerization and Kubernetes migration strategies


Knowledge of disaster recovery and backup migration strategies


Familiarity with hybrid cloud architectures and connectivity solutions


Experience with automated testing and validation frameworks


VMware or Hyper-V certifications (Preferred)


AWS Certified Migration Specialty (Preferred)
