Job Purpose Ensures all employment taxes (including social security) are correctly withheld, reported and paid globally (estimated at : USD 1 billion globally) for Sandoz. Ensures any Company employment tax filings globally (e.g. equity plan returns), working through country organizations to achieve this. Supports any employment tax audits globally. Accountable for defining and implementing global employment tax strategy, governance, principles and risk management. Your key responsibilities: Your responsibilities include, but not limited to: Conducts periodic payroll reviews on payroll tax and social security for the high priority countries within the organisation. Prepares quarterly payroll health check reports for respective countries. Content of the report should underline the finding, risks, and suggested remediation plans with relevant legislation in place. Supports countries in creating payroll tax compliance checklist for a better governance and follows up with country P&O services or payroll managers on the implementation. Ensures the global employment tax guidelines are followed locally and records the supporting evidence for any exceptional applications. Actively involves in internal and external audits on employment taxes. Works closely with Equity teams to have an alignment on any specific equity income reporting on payroll. Ensures that any further employer reporting obligations on equity is fulfilled at country level. Ensures tax/social security payments are made on timely basis by having the proper control mechanism (controlling the amounts and deadlines on accrual slip and payment receipts, having tax/social security clearance document where possible). Reviews and understands the tax positions of globally mobile populations and ensures that the correct approaches are followed for the payroll tax/social security reporting for these associates. For pre-payroll phase, conducts general review on the IA payroll instructions together with payroll team. Conducts a comparison analysis against the payroll tax grids and clarify the questions with tax service provider or relevant internal teams (GM). As a post payroll activity, reviews the IA variance reports received from tax service provider (EY) and conducts a check on the discrepancies with relevant teams. Helps building connection between Global Mobility, M&A, Reward, Compliance, Finance, Equity, Tax and Payroll teams to ensure up to date knowledge is held within Payroll team on the specific processes. Conducts regular checks on country legislation changes on income tax, social security and informs respective teams to have further discussions with payroll vendor, tax consultants (EY) and authorities. Keeping the global payroll tax grid up to date by visiting any legislation change around income tax and social security (final confirmation on the positions could be confirmed by tax service provider). Contributing to employment tax projects (e.g., business traveller, equity-based compensation, global mobility, trailing payments etc.) by doing research, liaising with the tax authorities, coordination between global and local payroll teams Supports P&O M&A teams on the employment tax activities (mandatory registrations/termination payment calculations/share plan related issues) to be completed during / after the M&A activity. Prepares knowledge articles/one pagers on payroll tax aspects. Supports payroll teams for the utilisation of tax optimised approaches (tax reliefs, exemptions based on specific scenarios). Acts as the escalation point in responding Sandoz associates` payroll tax calculation related questions (i.e. gross to net calculation queries) through payroll teams. Acknowledges the scope of work and liabilities of payroll and tax service providers. Supports vendor performance reviews based on the determined KPIs, works actively on process improvements with the vendors relevant functions within Sandoz. Actively engages with other country and global payroll teams to implement the standard methodologies for an effective streamlined process for all Sandoz entities. Evaluates use of technology in automating payroll tax related activities to minimise manual efforts and incidents. Role Requirements What you\'ll bring to the role: Minm Bachelor/ Master degree in Accounting/ Finance Business or related field is preferred (Master degree is preferred); Qualified tax professional in at least one location 10 + years of experience with minimum 5+ years of professional experience in a tax environment, ideally in a multinational Big Four company Developed skills in stakeholder engagement and coordination Project lead experience, consulting skills Good writing and communication skills, understanding of rewards practices Proven analytical and decision-making skills and ability to work with diverse cultures.
