They manage the scheduling of surgeries, allocate theatre resources (equipment, supplies, etc.), and maintain inventory levels.
Safety and Compliance:
Ensuring adherence to health and safety regulations, infection control policies, and other relevant healthcare protocols is a core responsibility, according to NABH Guideline.
Equipment Management:
They are responsible for the maintenance and proper functioning of all theatre equipment.
Staff Management:
This includes providing training and development opportunities for staff, as well as assessing their performance.
Collaboration:
OT Managers collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other medical professionals to ensure smooth and efficient surgical procedures.
Policy and Procedure Implementation:
They develop, implement, and review policies and procedures related to theatre operations.
Patient Care:
Ensuring a safe and efficient environment for patient care is a primary focus.
Emergency Management:
They may also be involved in handling emergencies that may arise in the operating theatre or even outside the operating room.
Waste Management:
Managing hazardous waste generated in the operating theatre is another important aspect of their role.
