Job Description

The Oracle Database Engineer will be responsible for performing regular database maintenance activities to ensure the availability, reliability, and performance of Oracle database systems. This role involves monitoring, tuning, patching, and troubleshooting Oracle databases across production, test, and development environments. The engineer will also support backup and recovery operations, implement security measures, and assist in database upgrades and migrations.


Key Responsibilities:


Perform routine database maintenance tasks such as reorganization, statistics gathering, index rebuilding, and cleanup


Conduct database health checks, monitor performance metrics, and optimize database configurations


Apply Oracle patches, upgrades, and security updates as required


Monitor database storage utilization and plan capacity management


Implement and maintain database backup and recovery strategies using RMAN and Data Pump


Troubleshoot and resolve database performance issues, errors, and failures


Manage user access, roles, and privileges in compliance with organizational security policies


Support disaster recovery planning and testing


Collaborate with application developers and system administrators to ensure optimal database performance and integration


Maintain documentation for database configurations, maintenance procedures, and change logs


Ensure compliance with data governance and security standards


Required Qualifications:


5 or more years of hands-on experience with Oracle Database Administration using Oracle 12c, 19c, or later


Strong knowledge of Oracle architecture, SQL, PL/SQL, and database internals


Proficiency in database performance tuning and troubleshooting tools


Understanding of backup, recovery, and high-availability concepts including RAC and ASM


Preferred Qualifications:


Oracle Certified Professional (OCP) or higher certification


Experience with cloud-based Oracle environments such as OCI, AWS RDS, or Azure


Familiarity with automation tools and scripting including Python and Ansible


Knowledge of ITIL processes and change management
